Yamaha plot all-new line-up for 2027 with Fabio Quartararo gone and Toprak Razgatlioglu promoted

Yamaha could completely change their MotoGP rider line-up for the 2027 season. Fabio Quartararo may join another team, while a promotion is planned for Toprak Razgatlioglu.

Aprilia have already made contact with Quartararo, who has alerted Yamaha’s rivals to his willingness to move by expressing his desire to win immediately.

Razgatlioglu will make his MotoGP debut with Pramac next year, but a rider of his stature will inevitably expect factory status in the long term.

Alex Rins was under contract for 2026 but may not be able to afford another underwhelming season. Rins, a six-time premier-class winner, finished 19th in the championship on 68 points.

Yamaha could pair Francesco Bagnaia and Toprak Razgatlioglu in 2027

It’s already been reported that Honda and Yamaha are interested in Francesco Bagnaia, whose Ducati future has been cast into doubt after a desperate 2025 season.

Now, Gazzetta dello Sport add that Bagnaia is a ‘serious contender’ to replace Quartararo. The likelihood of a move seems to be increasing.

Yamaha have dreamed of signing Bagnaia for a while and may now have the opportunity to do so. He would form an eye-catching partnership with Razgatlioglu, assuming the Turkish rider’s rookie season meets expectations.

VR46 could partner with Aprilia when their Ducati contract expires, but Valentino Rossi’s team aren’t thought to be an option for Bagnaia.

Francesco Bagnaia’s role at Ducati has already been ‘downsized’

Bagnaia wants to stay at Ducati but Luigi Dall’Igna has his eye on Fermin Aldeguer, the breakout Gresini star who’s already part of the team’s roster.

Rather than Aldeguer, Ducati have given Alex Marquez a factory bike for 2026 after he upstaged Bagnaia as the second-best Desmosedici rider.

This effectively amounts to ‘downsizing’ Bagnaia’s role in bike development. It seems Ducati consider the younger Marquez brother a ‘more reliable technical reference’.

The team spent 2025 trying to work out a solution for Bagnaia’s loss of form, but he could only offer limited feedback because he lost all ‘feeling’ from the front of the bike.
