Toprak Razgatlioglu completed his first test aboard the V4-engined Yamaha MotoGP bike at MotorLand Aragon this week, ahead of making his debut for Pramac in 2026.
The 29-year-old will finally register his debut in the prototype series next term after signing a two-year factory Yamaha contract this June to join their satellite team Pramac from the 2026 MotoGP season. Razgatlioglu will replace Miguel Oliveira, and partner Jack Miller in Tuscany.
Razgatlioglu will arrive in MotoGP as a three-time World Superbike champion, as he won the 2025 title with BMW. And the rider whom he will replace at Pramac will go the opposite way, as Oliveira will replace Razgatlioglu at BMW in the World Superbike Championship next year.
The Turkish rider’s arrival in MotoGP has been a long time coming, having raced solely in the WSBK paddock since 2015. Razgatlioglu tested on Yamaha’s MotoGP bike at Aragon in June 2022 and at Jerez in April 2023, but he only eventually agreed to enter the series from 2026.

Toprak Razgatlioglu lapped Aragon 2.735s slower than Fabio Quartararo’s 2025 qualifying pace
So, Yamaha utilised their V4 test at Aragon to give Razgatlioglu some track time aboard their V4-engined bike on Monday. It was his first time on any MotoGP bike since 2023, and one of very few chances with the official Valencia test to sample the M1 before pre-season testing.

Razgatlioglu must adapt his braking style for a MotoGP bike, as the front Michelin tyre reacts very differently to the Pirelli rubber that he has become a demon under braking on in WSBK. Monday’s test at Aragon also showed Razgatlioglu has some pace to find to be competitive.
According to Motorsport.com, Razgatlioglu’s fastest lap time around the home of the Aragon Grand Prix with Yamaha’s V4 bike was a 1:49.176. He completed a total of 33 laps, with track conditions around 14 degrees also considerably cooler than the 47-50° seen at June’s race.
While the conditions mean his lap times are not that comparable to what the Yamaha riders achieved over the 2025 Aragon GP, Razgatlioglu’s best effort was half a second slower than the 1:48.631 effort that Honda test rider Aleix Espargaro set during Monday’s private event.
Yamaha also only took the inline four M1 to June’s Aragon GP, where Alex Rins set the fastest lap among their family of riders in FP1 with his 1:47.998. Fabio Quartararo was the fastest of the Yamaha riders during qualifying for the Aragon GP, as he sealed P9 with a 1:46.441 in Q2.

Razgatlioglu’s fastest lap during Monday’s test at Aragon riding the V4 Yamaha M1 was thus 2.735s slower than Quartararo’s time using the inline four bike during qualifying for the 2025 Aragon GP. The Turkish ace’s lap was 1.178s slower than Rins’ time fast enough for P4 in FP1.

While Yamaha hired MotorLand Aragon for Sunday and Monday, Razgatlioglu did not get on the M1 until the second day. The Iwata outfit wanted to use the first day to allow test riders Andrea Dovizioso and Augusto Fernandez to shake their V4 bike down for the Valencia test.
Razgatlioglu will share a track with the field for the 2026 MotoGP season for the first time at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo during the official pre-season test on the Tuesday that follows the 2025 Valencia Grand Prix. He will record his full MotoGP race debut in Thailand next March.
