The Australian Grand Prix has been a staple on the MotoGP calendar since its inaugural race in 1989, making for 35 incredible races.
The Phillip Island Circuit has been home to the race for all bar six grands prix, where it was moved to the Eastern Creek Raceway after disputes between the local government and tobacco sponsors.
This year’s race will mark the 29th running on Phillip Island, with the much-loved track contracted with MotoGP until the end of 2026.
Ducati have secured an impressive feat during the 2025 MotoGP season, claiming the “Triple Crown” with victories in the riders’, constructors’ and teams’ world championship titles with four races remaining this year.
The team will be hoping Francesco Bagnaia can take the team’s first Australian Grand Prix victory since 2010. Ducati’s other rider Marc Marquez is out of the race after suffering a shoulder injury in Indonesia.

Honda are the most successful team at the Australian Grand Prix
Honda have seen the most success at the Australian Grand Prix, claiming an impressive 17 wins from 35 races in the premier class.
The team took their first victory around the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit at the inaugural Australian race in 1989, with home rider Wayne Gardner.
Nine victories for Honda have come during the modern era, including three wins with Marc Marquez in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
The team’s closest rival since the sport became MotoGP in 2002 is Ducati, who have six wins at the track. Casey Stoner took back-to-back wins with the factory between 2007 and 2010, with Johann Zarco also claiming his maiden win at the circuit with Ducati in 2023.
Yamaha are the third most successful team, with five wins around Phillip Island. Yamaha saw victory three times with Valentino Rossi, the most successful rider at the Australian Grand Prix, in 2004, 2005 and 2014.
