Jack Miller might be about to embark on his final MotoGP challenge in 2026, but it’s going to be a very important one.
He’s tasked with helping to lead Yamaha back to the front of the field, after their M1 bike has slid down the pecking order in recent times. At pre-season this year, they looked really strong, only to turn up to the first race in Thailand and struggle.
After being awarded a contract extension to the surprise of some, Miller must now put his experience to use as his employer looks to introduce the V4 engine. Currently, Pramac are bottom of the teams’ standings by some way, just 12 months after winning a riders’ title. It will hurt somewhat.
Miller has warned Toprak Razgatlioglu that he has the potential to ‘destroy’ his self-confidence by stepping up to MotoGP very quickly. After he retires, Miller has ruled out being a team manager and sees no reward in it. He’s all about the racing aspect of his job.

Jack Miller must achieve more top 10 finishes if he wants a MotoGP seat in 2027
Manuel Gonzalez threw shade at Miller after missing out on a MotoGP seat for next season, feeling as though his rivals’ passport helped him earn a gig. It’ll be his 12th consecutive season in the championship, and last of the current rule cycle.
Just a few weeks ago, Miller suffered an unfortunate crash, which prevented him from achieving a solid haul of points in Indonesia. On too many occasions, good opportunities have managed to evade him this season.
With four races to go, the 30-year-old has just four top 10 finishes to his name for the season. It matches the lowest total he has achieved since his rookie campaign in 2015. It’s also important to note that the calendar is bigger than ever, so 18 races in, he has already competed just as much as he did 10 years ago.
If he wants someone to sign him up for the new regulations in 2027, he has to start achieving some bigger results. Miller will hope that part of the solution is the V4 engine, but also needs to avoid making costly mistakes at the end of races. It has happened far too often.

What has been Jack Miller’s biggest achievement in 2025?
Now nearing the end of his first campaign with the fourth different MotoGP manufacturer he has raced for, Miller was always going to need a period of time to adjust.
His rivals may be worried about what he can do with one year of experience under his belt in 2026, especially after Yamaha takes advantage of the concessions.
Securing another year in MotoGP was a significant result, and it isn’t something that should be overlooked. He now has to prove that he was the better option than picking a rookie.
He came second at the Suzuka 8 Hour this summer, and it’s hard to tell whether that was a more significant result than getting another year in MotoGP. It certainly would have helped him in negotiations.
