Jack Miller shares the ‘unfortunate’ reason for his late Indonesian Grand Prix crash, ‘chaos ensued’

A top-10 finish slipped through Jack Miller’s clutches in the closing stages of the Indonesian Grand Prix as he crashed once more.

It’s not the first time this season that the Aussie has lost a better result due to making a mistake not far from the chequered flag. For a Pramac team who have struggled for much of 2025, it will hurt to see another good haul stripped from them at the end.

Miller battled with teammate Miguel Oliveira at one stage in the race, and they were on course to secure their team’s best haul of the year. Instead, they will have left the Indonesian Grand Prix with a feeling of disappointment about their weekend.

Miller sent a heartfelt message to Oliveira after learning that the Portuguese rider has managed to secure a BMW ride in the World Superbike Championship for 2026. Miller’s feedback at Yamaha is ‘golden’, and it’s helping his team to improve. It’s part of the reason why he has managed to keep his MotoGP seat.

Jack Miller ended up on the ‘dirty’ part of the Indonesian Grand Prix track before crash

Miller said what Yamaha want to hear after some struggles testing their new V4 engine a few weeks ago. The manufacturer’s superstar rider, Fabio Quartararo, was not quite as optimistic about their chances for the future.

Sunday’s race at Mandalika was another instance of Miller leaving the track with something on the table, which he might have grown fed up with by now. Speaking to Fox Sports Australia, he shared how his crash was caused by ending up on a ‘dirty’ part of the track.

“Three laps from the end, Franky [Franco Morbidelli] came past me at Turns 11-12 and the only reason we didn’t make contact was because I heard a bike when I shut the gas coming in on me, and then I was off the end of the track and ‘Diggia’ [Fabio Di Giannantonio] came through as well,” he said.

“Next time I put the bike down on the left-hand side, I crashed. The tyres were a little bit dirty going out of the line. I was trying to stay with the group, and the next time I was on the left-hand side, I’m on my head.

“Unfortunate, but we showed good potential today, fighting for the podium in the group. It was nice to be there and be with these guys all the race, manage the tyre and ride what I felt was a semi-smart race. F—– — — at the end, so disappointed with that.”

Why Jack Miller will be disappointed with his 2025 MotoGP campaign

There have been so many missed opportunities for Miller in 2025, including a victory which slipped through his grasp at Le Mans.

He should have a lot more points against his name, but rests 18th in the standings with four events to go this season.

It would be his worst finish since 2016, which was his second full-time campaign. For someone with far more experience now, it will disappoint him.

There’s plenty of room for improvement next year, and it’s hard to see him doing any worse. It could be his last chance in MotoGP, and he’ll need to capitalise on every chance that comes his way.
