Ducati secured the 2025 MotoGP teams’ title at the Indonesian Grand Prix, but senior figures at the Bologna Bullets left Mandalika feeling unhappy with Francesco Bagnaia.
The Borgo Panigale squad have dominated the 2025 MotoGP season to take the triple crown with four rounds to spare. Ducati won this term’s constructors’ title at the San Marino Grand Prix, while Marc Marquez also clinched the riders’ championship at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Following the Indonesian GP at Mandalika on Sunday, Marquez tops the riders’ standings on 545 points over his brother Alex Marquez on 362. Ducati also lead Aprilia by 338 points atop the constructors’ standings and Gresini by 276 atop the teams’ standings, with 264 now left.
Ducati even won the teams’ title at Mandalika despite neither Marquez nor Bagnaia scoring any points, as Gresini ace Fermin Aldeguer won the Indonesian GP. The Borgo Panigale crew saw Marquez suffer a collarbone injury at Mandalika, while Bagnaia retired after seven laps.

Senior Ducati figures run out of patience with Francesco Bagnaia overshadowing their title celebrations
Bagnaia crashed out of the Indonesian GP while running in last place, to cap a miserable trip to Mandalika for the 28-year-old who did the double at Motegi only a week earlier. In a rare positive outing, Bagnaia won the Sprint and Japanese GP for his first win in 14 Grands Prix.

Michelin’s treated rear tyre played a part in the Turin native’s regression at Mandalika. But it did not prevent Bagnaia from frustrating some senior Ducati figures at the Indonesian GP, as The Race reports they are now ‘at the end of their rope’ with the 2022 and 2023 champion.
Ducati bosses are frustrated that a lot of attention was given to Bagnaia’s disappointing race in the Indonesian GP, instead of focusing on the Borgo Panigale crew taking the 2025 teams’ title. Bagnaia fell to last place due to a dire start at Mandalika and struggled to regain places.
It was a similar situation when Bagnaia’s disappointing San Marino GP overshadowed Ducati winning the 2025 constructors’ title on home soil in the Misano Sprint, as well. The 31-time Grand Prix winner only secured P13 in the Misano Sprint and then crashed in the main race.
Pecco Bagnaia is prioritising third place in the 2025 riders’ standings after a torrid season
Bagnaia’s issues with Ducati’s ride height device in 2025 have helped to leave him 271 points shy of Marc Marquez in the riders’ standings. He is also looking over his shoulder at Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi 20 points behind in fourth more than at Gresini’s Alex Marquez for second.
Staying ahead of Bezzecchi for P3 in the standings is Bagnaia’s priority, rather than trying to catch Alex Marquez with the Spaniard 88 points ahead in P2 on a year-old Ducati GP24. The Aprilia star’s crash with Marc Marquez at Mandalika meant Bagnaia did not lose any points.
It is far from what Ducati had come to expect from Bagnaia, who also finished as the runner-up to Fabio Quartararo in the championship in 2021 and Jorge Martin in 2024 on either side of his titles. Now, Bagnaia’s plight is even causing Ducati pain by overshadowing their titles.
