In MotoGP’s final in-season test during the 2025 season, Ducati took the opportunity to gather data on an aerodynamic concept that could shape their challenger for the sport’s new regulations, set to take effect in 2027.

Due to Ducati’s superiority in the current campaign with Marc Marquez, the hold that they have on the rest of the MotoGP grid is likely to continue into the upcoming season.

‘Very little’ is expected to change in Ducati’s GP26, which has been proved by the Borgo Panigale-based team’s decision to look towards the new 2027 regulations at their most recent test at Misano.

Marquez and Ducati test rider Michele Pirro participated in the test with the new look bike, whilst Francesco Bagnaia worked with Casey Stoner to resolve issues that have plagued him throughout the current term.

Fans think that Ducati’s 2027 concept looks like a ‘real’ MotoGP bike again

After photos from the testing session emerged on social media, fans were quick to voice their opinion on the new look bike.

The overriding sentiment was pure joy over the fact that the new Ducati looked like a ‘real’ MotoGP bike, in the traditional sense of Grand Prix motorcycle racing.

Taking to Instagram, one user shared his joy in seeing the older design of fairing return, commenting, “Finally, they will go back to being almost normal bikes.”

Another Instagram user commented, “Looks way better!”

Fans also took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their opinion on the bike, which again, was overwhelmingly positive.

One user called the new aerodynamics, “A step in the right direction!”, whilst another MotoGP fan shared how it exceeded their expectations, posting, “Looks sharper than expected!”

Another fan can’t wait for the new regulations to come into effect after seeing the new look bikes, commenting, “I cannot wait to see the beautiful real MotoGP bikes again.”

Another fan highlighted the fact that they are testing their 2027 concept as a warning to other teams that were hoping to catch up to Ducati amid their period of dominance. The user posted, “It’s scary if they are so far ahead with the development!”

Ducati are yet to announce who will be riding for them in the 2026 MotoGP season

Bagnaia and Marquez will be out of contract with Ducati at the end of 2026, and the team are yet to reveal who will be wearing red in MotoGP’s new era of regulations in 2027.

Team boss Luigi Dall’Igna is running out of patience with Bagnaia due to his inability to turn around the constant struggles he has experienced throughout the current term.

The Italian has won just one race in 2025, a far cry from the 25 races that his factory teammate has won.

A number of names have emerged as contenders to race for the factory team in 2027, and Ducati have a couple of riders within their own stable who could quite easily slot into the factory set-up.

Fermin Aldeguer has been hailed as the ‘future of Ducati’ by Dall’Igna during his mightily impressive rookie season in the premier class. The young Spaniard has stood atop the podium twice with Gresini this year.

Aldeguer’s teammate Alex Marquez could also be in the running. Ducati are rewarding Marquez with a factory bike in 2026 due to his status as the best of the rest in 2025.
