Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez may not be on speaking terms, but they cannot ignore one another. Riding for the Ducati factory team, Marquez is in competition with Rossi’s VR46 squad.
The biggest internal threat to Marquez has come from Gresini and his brother Alex, who has won two Grands Prix this year. It’s likely to be a fraternal one-two at the top of the standings.
But VR46, who have allocated a factory-spec GP25 to Fabio di Giannantonio, have scored 10 podiums in total this year. Rossi’s most potent ally has been Marco Bezzecchi, the academy graduate who fought Marquez for victory in both races at Misano last weekend.

Marquez is the reference for all Ducati riders at the moment, which means the VR46 duo will be studying his data and onboard footage. Andrea Migno is central to that process.
Andrea Migno marvels at Marc Marquez’s ‘pursuit of perfection’
Migno serves as an assistant coach and video analyst for Rossi’s team. This role includes studying rival riders out on track.
In an interview with Corriere Romagna, he admitted his ‘fascination’ with Marquez’s ‘attention to detail’. His 2025 season has bordered on perfection, with a win rate of 78.1% across the two formats and a podium rate of 90.6%.
Migno never made it to MotoGP and only appeared once in the second tier. He is, however, a race-winner at Moto3 after a 10-year stint in the lightweight class.
“We obviously look at the fastest riders, depending on the track and the bikes,” Migno explained. “You look at the whole grid and obviously try to be among the fastest.
“Marc Marquez? I’m fascinated by his attention to detail and pursuit of perfection.”
One Valentino Rossi employee has been strongly critical of Marc Marquez this year
Rossi’s right-hand Uccio Salucci has commended Marquez’s technical understanding. It would be foolish for the team to allow their owner’s emotions to creep into their analysis.
However, academy alumnus Franco Morbidelli criticised Marquez in a recent interview. He says the Spaniard’s behaviour during his 2015 fallout with Rossi hurts his case in the ‘greatest of all time debate’.
Morbidelli still regards Marquez as one of the top five riders ever, if not the top three. But this highlights the underlying tension.
There was controversy during the San Marino Grand Prix weekend when the world feed showed two spectators in Rossi merchandise celebrating after Marquez crashed. A small group of Ducati fans got into a ‘physical altercation’ with The Doctor’s supporters afterwards, though that was the extent of the disorder.
