Jack Miller explains why he was slapped with a MotoGP fine after ‘very nice moment’ at Misano

Jack Miller scored points for the second consecutive weekend at the San Marino Grand Prix despite not having electric pace.

His future is now secure, and he can begin to look forward to the 2026 MotoGP campaign after Pramac confirmed him alongside Toprak Razgatlioglu. It means the Italian team will enter next season with a blend of experience and raw talent.

With the arrival of Yamaha’s new V4 engine, Miller is set to be tasked with a lot more development responsibility down the line. He will be a big part of their pursuit of unlocking more engine performance and getting back to the front of the grid.

Razgatlioglu has suffered ‘one big loss’ before switching over from the World Superbike Championship, and it might hand the other side of the garage a new advantage. Miller sacrificed money to stay at Pramac, and it’s clear that his heart remains in MotoGP towards the end of his 11th season.

Jack Miller gave MotoGP fan gloves before receiving fine for ‘very nice moment’

Miller’s MotoGP standing helped to save his seat after he collected the majority of Pramac’s hauls in 2025. He even had a chance to win a race at Le Mans earlier in the campaign, but failed to deliver and crashed in tricky conditions.

The Aussie is prepared to give up his pursuit of results in the final six races of the season, in a bid to help improve an engine that he will be heavily involved with in 2026. The further ahead they can get now, the more chance they stand of returning to the podium.

One nice interaction with a fan after the San Marino Grand Prix took a sour turn post-race, after Miller was handed a fine for momentarily riding the wrong way around the track, according to FOX Sports Australia.

“I saw this morning there was a fan with a sign saying ‘give us your gloves and I’ll give you a beer.’ I pulled up and I overshot him a little bit, so I went about 30 metres back up the road and to do a U-turn, I went back on the track, and thought there was nobody coming, so I could give the fan the gloves,” he said.

“I was happy to oblige and give them a set of gloves and it was a very nice moment and then I got the 2000 Euro fine. And I didn’t get the beer.”

Why Pramac’s decision to retain Jack Miller was very clever

Although there are a few promising talents in Moto2 that Pramac could have opted for, they went in another direction and retained Miller.

Despite receiving his extension, he did show some frustration at the length of time it took for a decision to be made.

The likes of David Alonso and Manuel Gonzalez could have been up for grabs, but the MotoGP rider market has played out in another way.

Avoiding having two rookies on the team should be a boost to their development and in their early-season results. The more familiarity Miller has in his second year might help boost his confidence, too.
