Marco Bezzecchi won his first Sprint race of the 2025 MotoGP season, holding off Alex Marquez to take the chequered flag at Misano following a mistake from Marc Marquez, which saw him crash out of the race after six laps.

Marco Bezzecchi started on pole position after setting the fastest lap in Saturday morning’s qualifying session for the San Marino Grand Prix.

The Italian rider retained the lead at turn one amid pressure from Alex Marquez, who ended up losing out to Marc Marquez just a couple of corners later.

Bezzecchi began to stretch out his lead ahead of the championship-leading Marquez, before the Ducati rider pounced on the sixth lap to take the lead.

The Ant of Cervera held the lead for just a few corners before he crashed out of the race amid pressure from the Aprilia of Bezzecchi and his younger brother behind.

With the factory Ducati rider out of the race, Bezzecchi built up another buffer ahead of the Gresini rider behind, taking the chequered flag exactly one second ahead of Alex Marquez.
