Fermin Aldeguer is starting to hit his stride in MotoGP after earning his first podium a few weeks ago.
The Murcian should’ve made it back-to-back rostrums at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but a crash ended his and Gresini’s hopes of more silverware.
Aldeguer had a bit of a slow start to the season, but has improved on his bike since. The Ducati GP24 is a fast bike, and he’s starting to get the hang of it.
It’s part of the reason why he’s now eighth in the MotoGP standings, and looking like a potential contender for Marc Marquez over the final eight races of 2025.
Aldeguer will wear red ‘one day’ if he continues to improve at such a rapid rate. He could even be Marquez’s successor.
After watching his recent performances, Aldeguer reminds Jorge Lorenzo ‘a lot’ of Andrea Iannone. He just needs a little more time to develop.

Fermin Aldeguer thinks recent MotoGP races haven’t suited Alex Marquez’s ‘style’ after poor form
Luigi Dall’Igna made a big Ducati prediction for Aldeguer and has hailed him as the future of the team before.
His older teammate has been one of the stars of the season, but has encountered some difficulty finding results recently. Alex Marquez’s second place in the standings may be under threat.
Aldeguer thinks he knows exactly why the one-time race winner has been off the boil recently, telling the Italian edition of Motorsport.com that he might have been a victim of circumstance.
“I don’t know, I don’t think he’s going through a slump. It’s just that the Red Bull Ring and Balaton Park are tracks that perhaps aren’t 100% his style, but we’ll definitely see a very strong Alex in Barcelona,” he said.
“After a week’s break, he’ll have time to relax and think. He finished 2024 very well at Montmeló, both in the race and in practice. I think he hasn’t lost his way.”
What can Fermin Aldeguer achieve by the end of the 2025 MotoGP season?
If he continues to find as much pace as he has recently, it’s inevitable that Aldeguer will get the chance to win at least one of the remaining eight races this season.
Aldeguer is MotoGP’s ‘diamond in the rough’ and with a strong conclusion to 2025, could end up as high as sixth in the standings.
That would mean that he finishes above both VR46 riders, who are also on satellite Ducati bikes, but with a lot more experience.
For someone who started the year on the fringe of points-paying positions, Aldeguer has a lot to achieve before the end of the campaign and should wind up as Rookie of the Year.
