Fans demand MotoGP make change to ‘awful’ Balaton Park circuit after ‘scary’ Enea Bastianini crash

Balaton Park hosted the first Hungarian Grand Prix in 33 years as Marc Marquez eased to a seventh consecutive MotoGP victory.

Fans all said the same thing about Marquez as he secured his eighth pole of the season, but another win looked in jeopardy on lap one.

Great starts from the likes of Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta put the Spaniard under pressure, and Enea Bastianini even challenged him at one point.

Then began the usual attrition as riders started to make mistakes, including Tech3’s Italian rider, who fell off his bike. Bastianini’s fourth place soon became last.

Halfway through his first campaign on a KTM bike, Bastianini would like to be at Ducati still, after failing to reach the podium this season.

He sits 15th in the MotoGP riders’ standings, but could have been higher without crashing out of multiple races while in good positions.

Fans demand MotoGP change ‘awful’ Balaton Park circuit after ‘scary’ Enea Bastianini crash

Bastianini’s lap one crash was a scary reminder of how dangerous the new Balaton Park circuit could be, as he slid across the track in front of numerous riders.

Luca Marini did an excellent job anticipating where he would end up, taking a very wide line to avoid hitting his rival.

It was clear to see that Bastianini was aware of how dangerous his position was immediately after falling off his bike, looking around to see where everyone else was.

It led to calls from fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) for there to be changes to the Hungarian Grand Prix track to make it safer in the future.

“Awful track! How, just how is it acceptable to have riders and bikes coming back on the track! Shocking,” said one fan.

“‘Unlucky’? Are you serious? Lucky is more appropriate, the whole series is lucky that Enea wasn’t hurt.” replied another.

“There is no way you call this a circuit, change the layout!” blasted someone else, while another fan added, “Horrific track, just asking for trouble riding here.”

And finally, two last individuals had especially strong feelings about MotoGP’s latest addition to the calendar, saying, “This track is too dangerous,” and ” It was so scary.”

Why Enea Bastianini must be positive after the Hungarian Grand Prix

Although he won’t be leaving Hungary with too much to show for his efforts, Bastianini has plenty of reason to be happy with his performance.

Bastianini was linked with Aprilia earlier in the year, amid rumours that Jorge Martin could leave the team early.

However, his situation was resolved and being under contract means that Tech3 will likely have the same line-up for 2026.

Just a few weeks ago, Bastianini’s KTM bike ‘ruined everything’, but things have improved recently. Even Pedro Acosta has started to achieve podiums, and things have improved all around.
