The 2025 MotoGP Grand Prix of Austria is set to take place this weekend after a month-long summer break, with Marc Marquez eyeing up a new record.

Riders will be taking to the Red Bull Ring for the 13th race of the 2025 season, with just ten races remaining before the end of the year.

The Grand Prix of Austria has been on the MotoGP calendar since 2016, with several iconic moments having taken place at the track over the past decade.

Despite only having joined the calendar in 2016, the Austrian Grand Prix had previously been a part of the FIM Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing calendar between 1971 and 1997. This means there are a number of riders who have seen years of success at the circuit.

Francesco Bagnaia hoping to take fourth consecutive Austrian Grand Prix victory

Francesco Bagnaia is the most successful MotoGP rider at the Austrian Grand Prix, taking three back-to-back wins between 2022-2024. The Italian also had a further victory in Moto2 in 2018, giving him four total Austrian Grand Prix wins.

Bagnaia has dominated at the Austrian Grand Prix for the last few years and will be hoping to take his fourth consecutive win at the track this weekend.

Giacomo Agostini is one of the most decorated riders at the Austrian Grand Prix, taking six FIM wins in 500cc and 350cc between 1971 and 1974.

He is the joint most successful rider, with Angel Nieto also taking six wins in the 125cc class between 1971 and 1983.

Marc Marquez could squash Bagnaia’s run with maiden win

Marc Marquez will be hoping to put a stop to Bagnaia’s Austrian Grand Prix streak by taking his first win at the Red Bull Ring.

If the championship leader does take the win at the Austrian Grand Prix he will be the first rider to have won six consecutive races with two different constructors.

The six-time MotoGP champion is yet to claim a victory at the Spielberg track, despite coming second in three consecutive years between 2017 and 2019.

Marquez came runner-up at the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix after a dramatic battle with Andrea Dovizioso for the lead of the race. During the race Dovizioso managed to set the all-time MotoGP lap record with a time of 1:23.827, which has remained unbeaten.
