Marc Marquez is currently enjoying one of the most in-form periods of his MotoGP career, etching his name in the winners’ column for eight of the 12 Grands Prix to take place so far this season.

With a dominant lead in the riders’ standings, Marquez already has a high likelihood of breaking Valentino Rossi’s record of being the oldest rider to win a championship in the premier class of Grand Prix motorcycling.

A number of the Spaniard’s records stem from him being the youngest rider to achieve certain milestones in the sport, such as Marquez being the youngest rider to win back-to-back Grands Prix in his debut MotoGP season.

It would be quite the full-circle moment if the 32-year-old is able to hold the records for being the oldest, as well as the youngest, world champion in the history of the sport.

Marquez is also just seven fastest laps away from beating another Rossi record, with the Italian legend registering 76 over his 372 entries. Marquez currently sits at 70 with 10 rounds remaining of the 2025 season.

Marc Marquez needs just six more wins this season to break his race win record from 2014

However, another record that Marquez could beat this season is one of his own that he set in 2014 for the greatest number of Grand Prix wins in a single season.

The Ant of Cervera was dominant in his second MotoGP season, with no other rider able to beat him during the first 10 rounds of the season.

This is another MotoGP record, with him being a joint-holder for the feat alongside Mick Doohan and Giacomo Agostini when taking into account the history of the Grand Prix motorcycle premier class.

With eight wins already under his belt in 2025, it is possible for Marquez to equal his 2014 feat at the Japanese Grand Prix in September, depending on whether he can win every Grand Prix from now until then.

You can’t put it past the Spaniard doing exactly that in the next five rounds, with Marquez’s entourage detailing the extreme training regime he is following to be the best version of himself on track.

The following Indonesian Grand Prix in October is the earliest opportunity that he can surpass his record for a 14th win of the season. If he fails to be perfect in the next six races, he will still have four Grands Prix remaining to try and top it.

Marc Marquez nearly equalled the record in 2019 before falling short

Marquez came close to equalling his record in the 2019 season with Honda, where he finished the season with 12 Grand Prix victories.

The now Ducati rider didn’t finish a race below second place all season, with a single retirement at the Grand Prix of the Americas being the only blemish on a near-perfect year.

He registered six P2s to go with his dozen wins in a record-breaking season, which saw him clinch the championship with four rounds to go and end the season with a record 151-point lead over Andrea Dovizioso in second place.

The 18 podiums from 19 races was an additional record to add to his collection, as well as the 420 points he collected on the way, being another record for the Spaniard.
