Pedro Acosta’s MotoGP future has been a subject of debate throughout the 2025 season, but he remains under contract as a KTM rider for next year.
The Spaniard equalled his best result of the year at the Dutch Grand Prix and fell just short of achieving his first podium with his new team.
KTM have remained patient and are starting to build some consistency, but still need to find a little more pace to challenge for silverware.

Acosta is addressing a key KTM issue now that the team has been saved from financial difficulties that started last year.
He’s less afraid to talk publicly about their woes, and wants to make sure that everyone back at the factory is motivated to take action after a poor performance.
VR46 were ‘in the lead’ to sign Acosta back in April, but the rumour mill has gone a little quiet since then. The MotoGP rider market hasn’t turned chaotic quite yet.
Current VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio was critical of his potential next teammate in Assen and criticised his approach to talking about his future.
“So I don’t care what Pedro does. I’m a little sorry for your team though because it’s not nice to talk so much about another brand,” he said, according to Mowmag.
“I don’t know what atmosphere there is in his box. Maybe he should focus on his [own performance], because there are other drivers in KTM who are doing well.”

Acosta’s contract with KTM runs until the end of the 2026 season, just before MotoGP’s new regulations will see 850cc machines introduced.
The Austrian manufacturer has refused to confirm their participation in the sport beyond next season, as the company goes through a difficult period.
It could leave Acosta without a team heading into 2027, and leave him eager to sort his future sooner rather than later.
In fact, Acosta may be regretting a KTM promise after not including a clause that would allow him to exit his deal early, much like Jorge Martin with Aprilia.
It means whoever wants him will have to pay, otherwise, waiting until 2026 to sign him is the only option.
