After starting the year in such neat fashion, Alex Marquez has shown signs of weakness over the last few races.
In two of the last three events, he has crashed in spectacular fashion and at the Czech Grand Prix, he took a rider with him.
Unfortunately, it happened to be the unluckiest man in MotoGP, as Joan Mir was taken out of the race while running in the top eight.
Immediately after the accident, Alex Marquez was confronted and he attempted to explain his actions, but there was little defence for losing his bike while on the inside of his Spanish rival.
Marquez rued a ‘strange’ problem at the Czech Grand Prix and struggled to find traction at the start of the sprint race.
Alex is ready to join Marc Marquez at Ducati, according to Jorge Lorenzo, but signs of inconsistency won’t have helped his cause recently.

Fans tell MotoGP Alex Marquez should be ‘banned’ after clash with Joan Mir at the Czech Grand Prix
Marquez’s move came on lap two at Brno, and it would be easy to criticise him for being aggressive so early in the race.
He had 19 more laps and many more opportunities to mount an attack on his rival, but he ended both of their races abruptly, leading to some uproar on social media.
Speaking on X (formerly known as Twitter), some fans criticised his moves and believe that he should receive a punishment for them.
“Alex should be banned from this competition, seriously,” said one fan, while another added, “Alex has shown that he has no respect for anyone apart from his brother. He should be banned.”
“Alex needs to ride in his place. He is not Marc,” said someone else, who believes his older brother is faster. “What an idiot,” added one more person.
“Happy to be super aggressive and even take other riders out, but won’t even try to pass Marc!” was the view of another fanatic, and one final response said, “Again and again, Joan Mir, it’s not your fault to be unlucky.”
Alex Marquez receives long-lap penalty for the Austrian Grand Prix
After Brno, Marc now leads Alex by 120 points in the riders’ standings. It doesn’t look like there will be any fight for the riders’ championship.
After the race, the younger Marquez was handed a long-lap penalty for his next race at the Austrian Grand Prix, which hurts his chances of achieving a podium.
It’s the older Marquez who is more comfortable and quicker on his machinery, with the GP25 appearing quicker than the GP24 in the right hands.
Even if it was the other way round, recovering an average of 12 points at every race after summer break seems unlikely.
In fact, it’s virtually impossible without something happening to Marc. He has been so impressive and more than deserves the title currently, he just needs to nurse it home.
Which may be the hardest part of the season that remains. After five consecutive doubles, he won’t want to ease up any time soon.
