Jorge Martin’s Aprilia contract row took another turn ahead of his MotoGP return at the Czech Grand Prix when he confirmed his decision for 2026.
The Spaniard will honour his contract and compete for the Noale-based manufacturer next year, after months of debate regarding a potential performance clause based on their MotoGP competitiveness.
Recently, Aprilia have begun to make significant strides on the track, and appear to be regular contenders for podiums.
It’s excellent news for Martin just as he returns. A seventh place at the Czech Grand Prix was a great start at Brno and proves he should be able to compete for podiums before the end of 2025.
Martin ignored a stern warning from Aprilia and wasn’t ready to be cautious on his official return to competitive action.
On a positive note, Aprilia think they can beat Marc Marquez in the future, giving the reigning champion hope of regaining his crown one day.

Jorge Martin held a behind-the-scenes meeting with Aprilia to reveal his ’emotions’ ahead of MotoGP return
Martin had an emotional MotoGP press conference ahead of his return, and admitted to his team that he nearly cried.
Brno was a significant milestone for him, as he officially finished his first race for his new team, more than halfway through the season.
Aprilia race manager Paolo Bonora revealed after the race how Martin held a behind-the-scenes meeting with his team to address his emotions in the Czech Republic.
“To confirm this opinion, your opinion, on Thursday night, he made a very short meeting with his side of the garage, his team members. Not private, but only with them,” he said on TNT Sports.
“He would like to bring them inside his emotions. He was so clear, ‘Please, forget the past, only we look for the future. We would like to join this team all together, and everybody his effort and energy as I will do,’ he says.”
How many days had it been since Jorge Martin last finished a race before the Czech Grand Prix?
Honda sent Martin a clear message and withdrew a three-year contract offer before he opted to remain with his current team.
It does mean that he’s still set to be a free agent ahead of the 2027 regulations, but the pecking order could change a lot before then.
It gives him time to make a decision, but he may just end up staying with Aprilia, especially if they can kick on.
After 245 days, finally finishing a race is a good start for Martin. All he needs to do now is rediscover his confidence and get comfortable on an Aprilia. He could end up being a serious challenger to Marc Marquez.
