MotoGP fans are all saying the same thing about Marc Marquez tyre pressure controversy at Czech Grand Prix

Marc Marquez’s victory in the Czech Republic Sprint race was, once again, marred by several riders having to drop back due to low front tyre pressures in order to avoid a penalty.

Pecco Bagnaia secured pole position for Ducati in qualifying, and it was he who was the first rider to take action, conceding his lead and dropping down the order in hopes of getting some pressure back into his front tyre. The Italian finished the race in seventh place.

The Spaniard inherited the lead from his teammate, but quickly had to join him in lifting off the throttle, gifting Pedro Acosta, who Marquez said ‘had work to do’ at the Czech Grand Prix, the lead in the process.

MotoGP fans have previously expressed their dismay at the rule, with Maverick Vinales’ penalty in Qatar earlier this season stripping the Spaniard of a podium.

MotoGP fans want ‘ridiculous’ rule taken out of the regulations

During the race, MotoGP fans took to social media to slam the rule, which cost Bagnaia et al a number of track positions during the race, with the unanimous decision of wanting the rule gone from the sport due to it ‘ruining races’.

Another user called it ‘The worst rule out there’ whilst another felt like it is ‘Ridiculous to see on this level’. The rule was introduced at the 2023 British Grand Prix as a safety measure, but riders quickly noted that the higher pressure caused the front tyres to lose grip, making it harder to brake and turn into corners.

One user showed their concern for the future of the sport, stating, ‘This sport is becoming a joke’ as another user called it ‘Absolutely disgraceful’, adding ‘This was just embarrassing.’

Ahead of Liberty Media’s acquisition of the sport, one user hopes the new ownership will scrap the rule completely, writing, ‘Hope Liberty sorts this farce out.’

MotoGP Stewards took no further action on tyre pressure investigations in Czech Sprint

Following the fall of the chequered flag in Brno on Saturday, Marquez was immediately put under investigation by the stewards for the infringement, along with Alex Rins and Ai Ogura.

However, all three riders were subsequently cleared in the investigations, meaning Marquez kept the victory for his 12th MotoGP Sprint win in the 13 rounds so far this season.

With the seven-time MotoGP champion taking maximum points on Saturday, he extended his championship lead over title rival and younger brother, Alex Marquez, to 95 points.

With a convincing championship lead already and Marquez in some of the best form of his career, it’s only a matter of time before we see him lifting the MotoGP Riders’ Championship for the eighth time.
