Francesco Bagnaia has changed his behaviour at Ducati after receiving a blunt three-word order

Francesco Bagnaia is facing the most difficult spell of his MotoGP career so far as teammate Marc Marquez keeps winning for Ducati.

The Italian rider has now gone seven races without a victory, which is the longest drought he has experienced since taking his first win at the 2021 Aragon Grand Prix.

Ducati have tried everything with the GP25 to get him up to speed, but nothing seems to have worked for him.

Pressure is starting to ramp up on Bagnaia, who looks worse with every race that Marquez wins. He has to find a solution, or at least an answer, soon.

Marco Melandri laughs at what people say about Bagnaia and doesn’t believe that the two-time champion has been doing badly this season.

Although after a moody spell at the Dutch Grand Prix, Ducati may have to remind Bagnaia of his duties after walking out of a post-race press conference.

Francesco Bagnaia has changed his behaviour after ‘kid, wake up’ order by Ducati

After 11 rounds, Marquez is ‘making the difference’ over Bagnaia by knowing when the appropriate time to push his bike is, according to Luigi Dall’Igna.

But signs of the old version of the two-time champion do remain, with Bagnaia outsmarting Marquez at the Dutch Grand Prix by opting for a better setup. He looked as fast throughout both races, if not faster.

A 126-point deficit is not going to be recovered between now and the end of the season, with Marquez almost guaranteed to become the oldest champion in the sport’s history.

But Bagnaia has changed his approach in recent times, and according to Spanish journalist Mela Chercoles, it was sparked by a Ducati order.

“By the way, I like that he changed his discourse since Thursday,” he said “I also spoke with Dall’Igna, I spoke with Gabarrini, his technical chief. They’ve tightened the screws on Pecco in the Ducati box.

“They told him, ‘Kid, wake up!’ They haven’t told him to stop crying or maybe they have, I don’t know, but they have told him to wake up, to also look at the positive aspects that exist.”

Davide Tardozzi is ‘sure’ that MotoGP rival wants to sign Francesco Bagnaia

Bagnaia is under contract with Ducati until the end of 2026, but he could be signed to an extension with the team.

Davide Tardozzi is ‘sure’ Yamaha want to sign Bagnaia and believes it is a privilege that they admire their talent.

Letting him go would be a premature and naive move, especially before finding out whether the rider or the bike is the issue.

But it’s pretty clear that after Fabio Di Giannantonio’s struggles, the characteristics of the GP25 may not suit Bagnaia, causing his lack of pace.

If he can revert to the GP24 or change the front of his bike for 2026, then he could be back to where he’s used to being – challenging for victories.
