Marc Marquez now leads the MotoGP standings by 68 points over Alex Marquez, who is a doubt for the next race in Germany.
The Spaniard made contact with Pedro Acosta during the Dutch Grand Prix, which sent him flying off the track, sustaining a fractured hand in the process. It helped to extend his brother’s championship lead.
As a result, Marquez now has even more breathing space as he heads to one of his favourite tracks to mark the halfway stage in the MotoGP season.
He continues to be Ducati’s most effective and dependable rider, extracting everything from the GP25, while teammate Francesco Bagnaia struggles with the front of the bike.
Alex failed to use one ‘super’ advantage over Marc at Assen as he opted not to attack for the victory during the sprint race, despite having more pace.
After the race, even Davide Tardozzi said Marquez has one ‘over the top’ weakness which he thinks might be holding the Spaniard back a little bit.

Luigi Dall’Igna spots where Marc Marquez is ‘making the difference’ over Francesco Bagnaia
Bagnaia may have outsmarted Marquez at the Dutch Grand Prix by opting for a different setup, which did seem to give him more overall pace, but he couldn’t take advantage of it.
The Spaniard winning both races was not just impressive at a track that he hadn’t been on the top step at since 2018, but particularly special given the two heavy shunts he suffered on Friday.
Bagnaia disagreed with what Marquez said after crashing and it looks like he was right. The Italian rider didn’t expect his rival to suffer any loss in confidence.
Ducati boss Luigi Dall’Igna spoke to Diario AS after the race about how Marquez is putting a gap between himself and his teammate.
“It’s like that, it’s just like that,” he said. “Marc is surely making the difference and he controls perfectly when it’s time to slow down or take risks.”

Luigi Dall’Igna reminds Francesco Bagnaia to remain ‘positive’ in 2025
The Ducati head-to-head looks as bleak as it ever has for their two-time champion, who has claimed just one victory in 10 races this year.
From 126 points behind, hopes of winning a third crown have already been dashed unless something spectacular happens on track.
Dall’Igna believes that the key to getting back on track is remaining positive, despite an overall lack of success.
“In the end, the mentality you need to win is important,” he said. “[Bagnaia] needs to take the positives that we understand because, when things start going wrong, it’s important to see the positive and think positively.”
