Jack Miller remains in limbo over his MotoGP future as Yamaha weigh up who to axe from the Pramac line-up ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu joining in the 2026 campaign.
The Iwata team have a decision to make after Yamaha finally convinced Razgatlioglu to leave World Superbikes and switch to MotoGP next year. He will race a factory-spec YZR-M1 with Pramac, but who joins the 28-year-old is still up in the air with Yamaha mulling their options.
Miller is due to be out of contract at the end of the 2025 MotoGP season, having signed just a one-year factory Yamaha deal to return to Pramac this term. Yamaha also awarded Miguel Oliveira a two-year works deal, but included a release clause which is due to become active.
Yamaha can release Oliveira from his contract to race with Pramac if the 30-year-old is their worst-performing rider come the 2025 summer break. The Portuguese now has two rounds in Germany and the Czech Republic to improve his six points to Alex Rins’ 35 and Miller’s 33.
Pramac do not agree with Yamaha’s interest in signing Diogo Moreira for the 2026 MotoGP season
It is thought that Yamaha would sign Miller for 2026 over Oliveira if the Japanese brand had to finalise Pramac’s line-up right now. The Iwata crew are also keen to make a decision soon, as Yamaha want to pick Razgatlioglu’s 2026 Pramac teammate before the 2025 Czech GP.
But another name is now in the frame with Miller and Oliveira’s, as Motorsport.com reports that Yamaha are the favourites to sign Diogo Moreira if the Moto2 rider steps up to MotoGP in 2026. Yet Pramac do not agree with Yamaha about the ‘ideal scenario’ for the 21-year-old.

Yamaha proved their interest in Moreira a few months back as the Sao Paulo native signed a collaboration with their Brazilian division. They think the Italtrans Moto2 rider can be a huge asset in the market, and Moreira also just tested on an R1 with Razgatlioglu at Balaton Park.
Yet Pramac believe the ‘ideal scenario’ for Moreira would be to join the Italian team’s Moto2 entry next season, before potentially moving up to MotoGP with the satellite Yamaha squad in 2027. But Moreira would prefer to remain at Italtrans if he stays in the intermediate class.

Moreira would happily spend another term with Italtrans if his immediate future is another season in Moto2 in 2026, as the Brazilian is ‘very comfortable’ in the team. The 21-year-old also just became the first Brazilian rider to ever win a race in Moto2 at the TT Circuit Assen.
He converted pole position to win the Moto2 Dutch Grand Prix, while also strengthening the Sao Paulo native’s third position in the intermediate class riders’ standings. Moreira has 128 points, to rank behind Manuel Gonzalez on 159 points and Aron Canet on 154 after 10 races.

This term is Moreira’s second campaign in Moto2, having come 13th in the 2024 standings with just 80 points and one podium finish. He also spent two years in Moto3 in 2022 and ‘23 for just one win at the 2023 Indonesian Grand Prix, en route to a best of P8 in the standings.
Now, his improving results with P2 finishes in the 2025 British Grand Prix and Aragon GP and victory at the Dutch GP have put Moreira firmly in contention for a MotoGP seat at Pramac. Yamaha signing Moreira to join Razgatlioglu could then force Miller and Oliveira off the grid.
Miller’s future would likely reside in World Superbikes if Yamaha were to elect against giving him fresh terms at Pramac. Honda have made Miller an offer to join their World Superbikes team in 2026, and BMW are also interested in the Australian taking over Razgatlioglu’s bike.
