Jorge Martin’s contract situation took another turn at the Dutch Grand Prix, as his agent started to talk about his situation publicly.
The Aprilia rider is nearing a return from a third accident of the year, which left him with 11 broken ribs and a pneumothorax following the Qatar Grand Prix.
That was Martin’s official debut for the Italian manufacturer, and it means that he’s yet to finish a race for them in 2025.
It makes his desire to switch MotoGP teams rather strange, especially when there are indications that he won’t be able to find a better bike than they have currently for next year.
Marco Bezzecchi doesn’t ‘care’ about Martin’s Aprilia feud and is entirely focused on leading the team in his absence. He did so well at the last round in Assen, scoring two podiums.
After an encouraging weekend, it would be wise if Martin listened to Neil Hodgson about the ‘special’ Aprilia, which is looking like a really impressive bike again, particularly at high-speed tracks.

MotoGP insiders suggest Jorge Martin has a ‘clear’ reason for wanting to get out of Aprilia contract
Aprilia have changed their tune on Martin’s contract, and it now appears that they may be willing to negotiate with any team that wants him for 2026, if the price is right.
The reigning champion has been linked with a move to Honda, who currently have a factory ride open for next year, with Luca Marini’s contract set to expire.
However, the Japanese manufacturer is on record saying that they will refuse to enter negotiations with any rider until they are free of their obligations for the following season. Martin must first fix his contract.
Martin’s lawyers believe his Aprilia contract is ‘clear-cut’ and that his performance-based release clause should allow for an early exit.
However, SPEEDWEEK reports that unnamed insiders are suggesting that the 27-year-old’s motivation for leaving is money-related.
That’s despite being paid £3.5m-a-year currently. He must have evidence to suggest that he could be getting more elsewhere.

Why the ‘tension’ is still ‘very high’ between Jorge Martin and Aprilia
Martin sits rock bottom of the riders’ championship and is one of just two riders yet to score a point during the 2025 season.
His reasons for that are obvious, but how far he can climb the standings when he does return will go a long way towards convincing him what to do in the future.
He will be a lot quicker than current second rider and team tester, Lorenzo Savadori, who has struggled to find much of a cutting edge.
Martin proved the ‘tension’ with Aprilia is ‘very high’ by not turning up to the last few events, and it shows how discontent he remains.
Fortunately, with each day that passes by, a solution comes closer. However, there may be a world in which the Spaniard is not on the grid at all for 2026, if his clause isn’t recognised by lawyers.
