Davide Tardozzi was ‘immediately amazed’ by one thing Marc Marquez has displayed at Ducati

Marc Marquez has been unstoppable in MotoGP since making the move to the factory Ducati team.

The six-time MotoGP champion has been displaying the level of dominance he showed at Honda in the 2010s. With six pole positions and 13 wins out of a possible 18 from nine rounds, he looks a firm favourite for the championship in 2025.

The Ducati rider has adapted seamlessly to the GP25, having ridden the GP23 with Gresini last season. Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff praised Marquez’s adaptability compared to Lewis Hamilton and how easy he has found it switching manufacturers.

Sitting 40 points clear of brother Alex Marquez in the standings, it is hard to imagine any rider standing up to the 32-year-old, given his current form. Kevin Schwantz says Marquez is making MotoGP ‘boring’ due to his dominance.

It is something that Liberty Media could address, as they look to attract new fans as the sport’s owners. Marquez proved that Sprint races may need changing, having won all but one so far in 2025, with no non-Ducati riders having finished on the podium.

Davide Tardozzi was ‘immediately amazed’ by Marc Marquez’s ‘simplicity’ at Ducati

Marquez has been riding at an exceptional level since joining Ducati. His adaptation to the GP25 has allowed him to race to his strength with left-hand turns and aggressive overtakes, unlike teammate Francesco Bagnaia who is struggling to find the right balance on the bike.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi shared that he was ‘immediately amazed’ by Marquez’s ‘simplicity’ and the fact that he does not show off. Regardless of what his critics may say, the boss says the Spaniard is a ‘beast’ on a motorcycle.

“I really appreciate the professionalism and humility of the boy. I emphasize these aspects even before the fact that he is a ‘crazy handcuff’.

“I was immediately amazed by his simplicity. He doesn’t show off. What you hear about him from certain detractors has no foundation, it is said on the basis of those damned facts of 2015.

“Then of course, when he gets on a motorbike he is a beast. Champions are like that, otherwise they wouldn’t be champions. But overall he is a really good boy.”

Marc Marquez is edging closer to Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP records

While there are 13 rounds still to go in 2025, it is hard to look past Marquez for the championship at this point. The Spaniard is on his way to equal his arch-rival Valentino Rossi’s record for seven MotoGP titles and nine overall motorcycle championships.

Marquez can become MotoGP’s oldest champion in 2025, with Rossi being the only rider to win a title in his 30s. With his latest win at Mugello, the Spaniard is edging closer to that feat.

Marquez emulated Rossi at Mugello with his antics towards Bagnaia as the two ran practice starts after qualifying. The 32-year-old received a frosty reception from the crowd after claiming victory; he is not popular in Italy given his rivalry with Rossi.

Tardozzi says Marquez is ready to make peace with Rossi as the pair’s feud spans back to their Honda and Yamaha days. But the latter will not want to see his nemesis break his records in 2025.
