Marc Marquez hits the Aragon Grand Prix atop the championship by 24 points, and may also have a bike advantage over Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
The trio are the only pilots on the 2025 MotoGP grid racing the Ducati Desmosedici GP25, as Alex Marquez of Gresini puts his brother under pressure using a GP24. Fermin Aldeguer plus Franco Morbidelli also have the 2024 bike, on which Jorge Martin won the title with Pramac.
Alex Marquez is not letting an older specification bike stop the 29-year-old from emerging as the biggest title rival to Marc Marquez, though. He ranks second in the championship, while Bagnaia sits third and Di Giannantonio is only in sixth ahead of the Aragon GP this weekend.
Ducati pilot Marc Marquez heads his brother going into the MotorLand Aragon event, which the 32-year-old has won more often than any MotoGP rider with six wins so far. He is also 72 points clear of Ducati teammate Bagnaia, while VR46 star Di Giannantonio is now 108 adrift.
Fabio Di Giannantonio is desperate to get Marc Marquez’s upgraded Ducati GP25 chassis
Marquez leading Ducati’s hopes since joining before the 2025 MotoGP season has also seen the six-time premier class champion start to get preferential treatment over Bagnaia. Ducati gave Marquez their upgraded chassis at Le Mans, having first trialled it during the Jerez test.

Bagnaia has not run the Borgo Panigale brand’s modified chassis yet, but is expected to get it on his GP25 for Monday’s post-Aragon GP test. Di Giannantonio has also shared his desire to ask Ducati general manager Luigi Dall’Igna to get the new chassis on his GP25 with VR46.
Diggia said at the Aragon GP about what sets his bike apart from the other Ducati GP25s, via Motosprint: “The new frame, used by Marc Marquez. It seems to guarantee improvements. That’s fine. In fact, I’ll ask Gigi Dall’Igna if I can try it. I hope to do so as soon as possible.”

Ducati’s new chassis is not the only aspect of the GP25 which has helped Marquez to open a lead over Bagnaia and Di Giannantonio in the 2025 championship. VR46 chief Uccio Salucci believes Bagnaia and Di Giannantonio struggle with Ducati’s front fork more than Marquez.

The Bologna Bullets designed a longer front fork for the GP25 compared to the one used on Alex Marquez, Aldeguer and Morbidelli’s GP24 bikes. Ducati’s longer front fork is Bagnaia’s biggest problem with the GP25, as well, as it limits the movement of the front wheel more.
Bagnaia and Di Giannantonio must try to overcome their issues with the longer front fork on the duo’s bikes, though. Ducati cannot revert to the front fork on the GP24 as the GP25 was not designed for it. But the pair can and will hope to sample Ducati’s modified chassis soon.
