Marc Marquez welcomes the resurgence of 32-podium MotoGP rival in 2025, ‘it’s good for me’

Whoever wants to stop Marc Marquez from potentially winning the MotoGP title in 2025 has a mammoth task on their hands.

The most likely candidate seems to be his own brother, Alex, currently, but he is on a one-year-old GP24 bike for the rest of the campaign. The Ducati had proven itself to be the fastest on the grid throughout the first few races, but since then, it has fallen off a little.

For starters, Marquez isn’t winning every race as was expected at one stage, and at the British Grand Prix a few weeks ago, there was a point in the race where Ducati had no riders in the top four. With 15 races to go this season, the MotoGP title isn’t completely wrapped up yet, but the Spaniard does have a big advantage.

Even teammate Francesco Bagnaia has been told he’s ‘doomed’ against Marquez in their battle for supremacy. The two-time champion has been largely nowhere with the GP25 and it’s believed his issues lie deep within the design, which cannot be changed until the winter.

Marquez has been told to ‘let’ Alex win the title, but they’re both competitors and very much enjoying battling each other at the front for the first time ever. It’s an extremely rare occurrence and they’re aware that it won’t last forever.

Marc Marquez welcomes the resurgence of Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo in 2025

Marquez was the ‘happiest’ MotoGP rider despite crashing out of the British Grand Prix because he was given a second chance to get back into the race after a red flag. He ended up in an incredibly tight finish with fellow Ducati rider Franco Morbidelli and his brother at the end.

MotoGP fans were in disbelief at a rule that allowed both Marquez brothers back into the race at Silverstone after crashing, because a red flag had been waved for oil on the track before lap three. It also kept the race even more interesting.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo got himself into the lead and pulled away nicely, holding a five-second margin to Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi behind. Not long after, he suffered a ride height device failure and would be forced into a gut-wrenching retirement.

However, Marquez has been enjoying seeing the Frenchman recover some speed lately, particularly as he has the potential to steal points off some of his title rivals.

“It has been seen. Without that technical problem, Quartararo won,” he told Diario AS. “There was a Yamaha, an Aprilia and a Honda. That means that when there is a complicated day they are getting closer and closer. Concessions and regulations are helping.

“But it’s also good for me that they take points like that, let’s see if they get for my rivals and take away little things from them.”

How Alex Marquez punished Marc Marquez’s ‘weak point’ in 2025

The Marquez brothers are 48 points ahead of the next closest MotoGP rider after just seven races, and it’s hard to see anyone catching them.

Alex did something ‘special’ to punish Marc at Silverstone and has been using his advantage over his brother in right-hand corners.

With the upcoming race at Aragon suiting Marc, the fascinating battle may be about to enter a new chapter, with the six-time champion in need of returning to the top step of the podium again soon.

Three races have elapsed since he last won a Grand Prix, and while he has managed two podiums, he will want to get back to top form with a record seventh title in sight.
