Toprak Razgatlioglu is set to finally make the move from World Superbikes across to MotoGP after years of rumours and an announcement is also expected very shortly.
The 28-year-old’s name is often mentioned whenever the MotoGP rider market kicks off. Yet Razgatlioglu has regularly rebuffed advances from the prototype bike series to remain in the production bike class having prioritised joining a competitive factory to ever make the move.
But the 2026 MotoGP season is set to finally mark the first year the Turkish star competes in the championship. Razgatlioglu has his heart set on moving to MotoGP in 2026 ahead of the 850cc bikes and Pirelli tyres debuting in 2027 and has decided between Honda and Yamaha.

Toprak Razgatlioglu is set to confirm his MotoGP move with Pramac Yamaha at Mugello
Honda have met Razgatlioglu’s agent to discuss a move to MotoGP for the 2027 season with a contract that would see the Alanya native stay in World Superbikes next year. Their plan is to utilise MotoGP’s testing rules by having Razgatlioglu help Honda develop their 850cc bike.
But SPEEDWEEK now reports that Sandro Donato Grosso is ‘convinced’ Razgatlioglu is ready to announce he is signing for Yamaha to race in MotoGP at Pramac in 2026. Sky Italia’s well-informed reporter with ties to Pramac chief Paolo Campinoti expects news at Mugello, too.

Razgatlioglu is expected to use the upcoming Italian Grand Prix on June 20-22 to confirm his move to MotoGP with Pramac Yamaha as the two-time World Superbikes champion believes 2026 or, at the very latest, 2027 marks his ‘last chance’ to move across to the championship.
Yamaha managing director Paolo Pavesio has been key to their pursuit of the Turkish star as he was in Razgatlioglu’s 2021 WSBK title-winning crew at Yamaha. The 63-time WSBK race winner is also not demanding an excessive wage to avoid missing out on moving to MotoGP.
Pramac Yamaha are set to sign Toprak Razgatlioglu now Honda are focused on Jorge Martin

Yamaha cannot offer Razgatlioglu a factory seat for next year with Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins under contract for 2026. But Pramac have an opening for the World Superbikes rider, as Jack Miller is out of contract after 2025 and Miguel Oliveira must meet performance clauses.

What has also helped Yamaha convince Razgatlioglu to join Pramac next year is Honda are looking to sign Aprilia exile Jorge Martin. The reigning MotoGP champion is trying to get out of his contract with the Italian factory with Honda prepared to double Martin’s Aprilia salary.
Who the WSBK champion will partner may also come soon as Yamaha will decide Miller and Oliveira’s futures at Pramac by the summer break. The Japanese team want to give both the chance to earn new deals, given Oliveira missed four of the first five rounds due to an injury.
