Francesco Bagnaia’s recent MotoGP struggles show no sign of easing up after six rounds of the 2025 season.
The Italian rider trails Ducati teammate Marc Marquez by 51 points, despite making two fewer critical mistakes in Grands Prix this year.
Bagnaia knows that he needs to show pace almost immediately, or else his pursuit of a third title could be over before the middle of the campaign.
He showed little speed at the Grand Prix of France, after contact on lap one effectively ruined his race. If he had been closer to the front after a better start, he would have been okay.
Bagnaia has questioned Ducati’s 2025 improvements and has admitted that he just cannot seem to adapt well to the GP25.
There’s no chance of a return to the GP24, and MotoGP fans think Luigi Dall’Igna has lost faith in Bagnaia after his troubles.

Luigi Dall’Igna says Francesco Bagnaia is an ‘exceptional’ person for Ducati
It has been over four years since Bagnaia joined Ducati’s factory outfit at the start of 2021 and was immediately thrown into title contention.
He missed out on winning two titles by a very slender margin, and could easily have four crowns to his name by now.
But Ducati boss Dall’Igna told DAZN of just how much the 28-year-old has given to the team since joining them.
“For Pecco, Ducati was the first and last MotoGP that he drove. Because he came with us and had to learn how to manage everything that a MotoGP entails,” he said.
“Of course, for him, the adaptation to the bike was easier than for others. It was a near-natural thing, and it probably also helped and contributed to the development. He is an exceptional person who has given a lot to Ducati. He deserves all our respect.”

Is Francesco Bagnaia’s 2025 MotoGP title chase over?
After the first in-season test in Jerez, it was hoped that Ducati upgrades and more laps to configure possible setups would help Bagnaia.
However, after Le Mans, it appears that he remains just as lost as he has been all season and shows no signs of improvement.
In fact, he may have gone backwards compared to the first few races. If Marquez limits his mistakes for the rest of the year, the title will be his.
His teammate simply does not have the speed or the consistency to match him at the moment, and when he gets stuck in dirty air, he can’t seem to get past anyone.
It leaves one last question – what will happen with Bagnaia in the future if he continues to be dominated by Marquez?
