Chris Vermeulen has ‘no doubt’ Yamaha are doing one thing behind the scenes that could endanger Jack Miller

Jack Miller is out of contract at satellite Yamaha team Pramac at the end of the 2025 season. The Aussie will be looking to keep his MotoGP career alive, but he is facing pressure to do so.

Pramac saved Miller by offering him a deal for 2025 after his exit from KTM. The 30-year-old had struggled at the Austrian manufacturer and looked set to drop off the grid.

But Yamaha offered him a lifeline, and initially, Miller took that opportunity in his stride. Qualifying fourth at the season opener in Buriram, the Aussie finished an impressive P5 in Austin.

However, his form has faded somewhat since then. Miller has failed to finish the last three races, including the Sprint at Jerez. The Pramac rider sits 16th in the standings after 10 races, 31 behind top Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo.

With Miller on a ‘prove it’ contract this season, he will be under pressure to recover his form as MotoGP enters the final season before the new technical regulations in 2027.

Chris Vermeulen has ‘no doubt’ Yamaha are talking to other riders which could put Jack Miller in danger

Teammate Miguel Oliveira may not be safe either. Despite having a contract until 2026, the Portuguese rider has struggled with injury this year and has just two points to his name.

Former MotoGP rider and Grand Prix of France winner Chris Vermeulen has ‘no doubt’ that Yamaha are assessing their options for next season. Speaking on Pit Talk, the Aussie wonders how many rounds Miller has left to save his career.

“It’s probably worked out very well for Jack. He fits with the Pramac team really well and a couple of races there, he’s outperformed Quartararo, he’s outperformed Rins most of the time, an established Yamaha rider,” he said.

“So he is getting a lot out of it, but there’s a few mistakes starting to roll in. But we are only at round six.

“The thing for Jack is how many rounds does he still have, because there’s no doubt about it, Yamaha are talking to other riders. They’re going to be.

“They’re going to see what options are there, not only for Jack but Miguel Oliveira can’t be secure where he is either, I don’t believe.”

Pramac Yamaha are eyeing Toprak Razgatlioglu for a move to MotoGP – what does he think about the rumours?

With 17 rounds left of the 2025 season, all the Aussie can do is put his head down and grab top results. Miller will not celebrate until Pramac score a podium – he is determined to get the team back into the top three.

But the 30-year-old will face pressure amid rumours of potential targets. Pramac are interested in bringing in World Superbike rider Toprak Razgatlioglu, with Honda also interested.

Neil Hodgson says Honda is the ‘dream ticket’ for Razgatlioglu to join the MotoGP grid. The manufacturer will have the bigger pay check to get a deal done, but their Japanese rivals Yamaha will no doubt remain interested in the rider.

Razgatlioglu is not willing to join MotoGP in 2026, however. The idea is that he will remain in the WSBK before moving over to the premier class in 2027.
