Davide Tardozzi insists ‘skeptical’ Ducati critics were wrong about Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia

A Ducati bike has won each of the first 10 races of the 2025 MotoGP season, with the factory outfit securing nine of those on offer.

Fascinatingly, neither Marc Marquez nor Francesco Bagnaia leads the way in the riders’ championship, despite being so dominant.

Gresini’s Alex Marquez has been the surprise of the MotoGP season so far, and has a one-point advantage over brother Marc at the top.

Ducati’s advantage over the rest of the field cannot be closed overnight. It’s going to take a while to dethrone them.

Marquez will ‘never’ blame Ducati for any bike issues, as he doesn’t want to damage the brand’s reputation.

After Marc crashed at the Grand Prix of Spain, Bagnaia was proven right about the 2025 title battle and the need to pick up points at every opportunity possible.

Davide Tardozzi says ‘skeptical’ people were wrong about Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia

Bringing two great champions together always posed the slight threat of both going above and beyond to assert themselves as the number one rider in 2025.

There were signs of a battle at the last round in Jerez, before MotoGP fans blamed Bagnaia for Marquez’s crash.

Davide Tardozzi always believed that rather than creating a big problem, that the two would work together to find a way of helping the team move forward.

According to Speedweek, he insists that those who doubted bringing Marquez in to work with Bagnaia were wrong.

“As always, the riders talk a lot on test days like this. The relationship between the two helps the engineers, technicians, and Gigi to further develop the bike. We think that’s a good thing.

“Many were skeptical that this wouldn’t work. But not only do we have two champions on the team, they’re also very intelligent. They know that working together accelerates the development of the bike.”

Why Marc Marquez has been better than Francesco Bagnaia at Ducati so far

The six-time champion has hopped onto a factory machine and found rapid pace from day one. Throughout pre-season he looked more comfortable than his teammate.

Bagnaia faces his ‘worst nightmare’ and cannot seem to extract any more pace from his bike at all currently.

There isn’t much his team can do to help him either, considering that they already have a dominant bike in the hands of one rider, while the other is being beaten consistently by their satellite team.

Ducati insiders revealed Bagnaia’s next upgrade would involve a new aerodynamic package during the first of the in-season tests at Jerez.

Fans will have to wait another few days before finding out whether it was effective and can be used in the future at the Le Mans circuit – the site of the next race.
