Jack Miller uses one savage word to describe Fabio Quartararo after working with 2021 MotoGP champion at Yamaha

Jack Miller secured his place on the 2025 MotoGP grid by joining Pramac as a factory Yamaha rider, which also sees him now work closely with Fabio Quartararo this year.

The Australian’s future appeared likely to be away from the premier class when KTM Factory Racing opted to replace Miller with Pedro Acosta. Instead, a move over to World Superbikes started to gather momentum before Yamaha secured Pramac to be their new satellite team.

Luring Pramac away from the Ducati stable put two more Yamaha bikes on the gird, and also opened up two more seats. Yamaha gave Miller a one-year ‘prove it’ factory contract to race for Pramac beside Miguel Oliveira, who the Japanese brand also secured on a two-year deal.

Jack Miller thinks ‘soft’ is the one word to best describe Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo

Miller has relished Yamaha’s commitment to Pramac, with the Tuscan squad effectively their second factory outfit. The Iwata brand are determined to move back to the front of the field and are utilising having a satellite team again to help the development of their YZR-M1 bike.

Yamaha take on board the feedback Pramac riders Miller and Oliveira give along with factory duo Quartararo and Alex Rins. Miller had not ridden a Yamaha before the 30-year-old joined Pramac, so can compare it to the Ducatis he used from 2018-22 and his KTM from 2023-24.

Miller also enjoyed three years aboard Hondas from his MotoGP debut in 2015 to 2018. The Townsville native is one of the more experienced riders on the grid at 181 Grand Prix entries compared to Quartararo, who has only raced Yamaha bikes in MotoGP since 2019, with 115.

Sharing a grid with the 25-year-old since 2019 and now working closely with Quartararo as a Yamaha rider at Pramac has also offered Miller the chance to get to know the 2021 MotoGP riders’ champion better. Yet the Aussie has now used a savage to describe the Nice native.

When asked by Moto.it to describe Quartararo in just one word, Miller noted: “Hmmm… In one word? I think it’s soft, maybe.”

Yamaha star Quartararo will likely not enjoy hearing Pramac ace Miller describe him as ‘soft’ having competed against the Aussie for the past seven seasons. It even comes after a tough start to the 2025 MotoGP season by the Frenchman, who sits eighth in the 2025 standings.

Quartararo still remains without a podium since the 2023 Grand Prix of Indonesia or a race win since the 2022 Grand Prix of Germany, which also mark the last time any Yamaha rider secured either feat. He sealed P15, P14, P10 and P7 in each of the four Grand Prix this year.

Results to date have also not always been at the levels that Yamaha and Pramac would want for Miller. He took P11, P13 and P5 in the Thailand, Argentina and Americas Grands Prix and retired in Qatar. The 30-year-old has scored 19 of Pramac’s 24 points in the first four rounds.
