The Lusail International Circuit has been the home of the Grand Prix of Qatar since 2004, with the track holding the first night race in MotoGP history in 2008.
The race is still the only one held at night on the MotoGP calendar and will continue to host races until at least 2031, having signed an extension in 2022.
The 3.3-mile circuit is mostly flat and features a variation of corners, with 16 turns in total that test the technical setup of the bikes.
It is a track that has seen a mix of winning riders over the years, so MotoGP News has decided to look at who is most successful in the Grand Prix of Qatar.
Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi hold joint record for wins at the Lusail International Circuit
Of the current riders, Maverick Vinales is the most successful at the track with two wins in 2017 and 2021.
Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi currently hold the joint record for wins at the Lusail International Circuit, with the former remaining unbeaten for three years between 2007 and 2009 at the track.
Rossi took back-to-back victories in 2005 and 2006, but his first was memorable for fans after a late-race skirmish with Marco Melandri, who battled hard with the Yamaha legend.
The desert thriller was kickstarted as Melandri closed on Rossi in the closing stages of the race, eventually making a lunge into Turn 12 on the final lap. The move sent Melandri wide and he rejoined in second, enabling Rossi to come through as victorious.
Rossi’s victory enabled him to become the first rider in MotoGP history to win ten Grands Prix in a season. He would later win the race in 2010 and for a final time in 2015.
