Jack Miller is looking to put more points on the board in 2025 at the Grand Prix of the Americas.

The Aussie has enjoyed a decent start to life at Pramac after moving from KTM. Yamaha have invested heavily in their MotoGP project to get back to the front of the field – and progress is being made.

Fabio Quartararo was eight tenths quicker than last year’s best time in pre-season in Sepang. Despite this incredible improvement, Yamaha are bottom of the constructors’ championship after the first two rounds.

However, the Japanese manufacturer are much closer to their rivals than 2024. Quartararo and Miller both scored points in Thailand and Argentina, with the latter the highest-ranked Yamaha rider in the standings with eight points.

Heading into the Grand Prix of the Americas, the Aussie is not expecting a huge haul of points. Miller says data collecting will be ‘crucial’ for Pramac to give to the engineers.

Michael Laverty stunned by Jack Miller’s ‘exceptional’ talent’ on dry tyres in the wet at Americas GP

While Miller does not think decent points are on the cards, that has not stopped him from showing his experience in Austin. During practice on Friday, he left Michael Laverty stunned with his ‘exceptional talent’.

The Americas GP has seen significant rainfall during the weekend, with the tricky conditions catching out numerous riders. Marc Marquez suffered his first crash for the factory Ducati team while Marco Bezzecchi had a nasty highside at turn four earlier in free practice.

In the later practice session, the rain continued in the early stages before the track began to slowly dry out. Miller and factory Honda rider Luca Marini went out on slick tyres, despite the circuit still having significant wet patches.

Nevertheless, the Pramac rider showed his skill and experience to navigate the tricky conditions and set what was initially the fastest lap time with a 2:12:6. Speaking on TNT Sports, Laverty was loving how Miller looked so ‘comfortable’, proclaiming not many riders could do the same.

“I love how Jack makes this look possible or easy or comfortable to do.  Tell you what, there’s not many riders in the world you could do this as early as Jack can. It’s an exceptional talent,” he said.

Jack Miller has already achieved something he ‘dreamed of’ at Pramac Yamaha

The first two races of 2025 have shown encouraging signs from Miller. The 30-year-old is fighting to keep his MotoGP career alive.

Miller is on a ‘prove-it’ contract with Pramac, being the only Yamaha rider on a one-year contract. Currently, the Aussie is showing he is worth keeping as he sits ahead of factory riders Quartararo and Alex Rins in the standings.

Despite only scoring eight points thus far, he has shown solid consistency with his lap times during a race. Miller has always ‘dreamed of’ being consistent and he is proving he can do that with Yamaha – it was one of his greatest weaknesses.

Miller thanked Pramac for saving his MotoGP career by giving him a new contract. So far, his experience and impressive displays will put a good case to Yamaha to keep him on board.
