The Argentina Grand Prix saw Marc Marquez extend his lead at the top of the MotoGP standings. The Spaniard has commanded the 2025 campaign so far.
Marquez has claimed pole position, the Sprint win and the main race win in the first two races of the season. Besides temporarily losing the lead in Buriram and Argentina to Alex Marquez, the 32-year-old has been unstoppable in 2025.
Ducati locked out the top five at the Argentina Grand Prix as the Marquez brothers grabbed their second one-two finish of the season. Franco Morbidelli came home third to register his first podium since 2021.
Francesco Bagnaia was fourth ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio in another challenging weekend for the two-time MotoGP champion. Davide Tardozzi thinks Bagnaia will be ‘back’ in Qatar fighting his teammate – this is alarming given he is already 31 points behind in the standings.
While Ducati enjoyed another dominant weekend in MotoGP, it was a different story at KTM – particularly satellite team Tech3. Riders Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini have endured a torrid start to 2025.

Neil Hodgson says Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini’s body language was ‘quite sad’ to see at Argentina Grand Prix
Vinales and Bastianini both grabbed wins in 2024 with Aprilia and Ducati respectively. Since moving to Tech3, the 17-win duo (Vinales 10, Bastianini seven) have struggled to adapt to the RC16.
Neil Hodgson was baffled by Bastianini’s ‘nightmare’ during the Sprint in Buriram as he languished at the back of the field. The Italian did well to finish ninth in the Grand Prix, but his struggles were apparent.
Things got worse at the Argentina Grand Prix. Bastianini fell off his bike after a collision with Raul Fernandez and limped home 18th, while Vinales could only manage 13th.
It was another dismal weekend for the Bormas Les Mimosas-based team – and Hodgson cannot believe how far back Vinales and Bastianini have sunk. Speaking on TNT Sports during the race at Termas, he noticed the duo’s body language looked as though they did not want to be there.

“When I walked off the grid to go back up to the commentary box, it was quite sad seeing Vinales and Bastianini sat on the back of the grid.
“You seem so far out of it, no one’s around you.
“And you should have seen their body language, just looking at their faces on both of them. Do you know when you just look at two people that just look like they don’t want to be there? Hating it.”

Tech3 could be in for a long season in 2025 – even they seem to know it
Bastianini has been noticeably struggling to adopt his Ducati riding style onto the KTM bike, but still managed to beat his teammate in Buriram. Vinales demanded answers from Tech3 for the Italian’s pace as he finished outside the points in 18th.
The feeling around KTM has not been positive given the manufacturer’s financial problems. It was feared their issues could affect their MotoGP project – and it could be a factor in Tech3’s lack of performance.
Hodgson says Bastianini is in for ‘a long year’ after watching him in Buriram. His result in Argentina will be a huge concern – but expected from Tech3 key figures.
Nicholas Goyon says Tech3 cannot fight for top positions in 2025. It has been a miserable start to the year for Vinales and Bastianini and they will be desperate for fortunes to change in Austin.
