Jorge Martin has endured a nightmare start to the 2025 MotoGP season after suffering injuries and setbacks on his road to recovery from them.
The reigning champion sustained fractures to his right hand and left foot just laps into his official debut for Aprilia at the first pre-season test in Sepang.
Martin was originally slated to return before the season-opening Thailand Grand Prix, but required further surgery after another fall.
It means that he has missed the first two races of the 2025 MotoGP season, and there’s currently no guarantee that he will be back at the end of the month for the Grand Prix of Americas.
It has now been over five weeks since his accident, and ‘sources close’ to Martin shared good news on his recovery – he is making progress.
Even though he may have hoped to return to action for the second race of the year, a MotoGP medical chief told Martin not to race in Argentina because it’s important that he allows himself to heal.

Jorge Martin could return to the Aprilia garage at the Argentina Grand Prix
As the reigning champion, Martin will have been very excited to climb onto the number one bike this season and attempt to defend his title.
Even if moving away from a Ducati bike means that he is no longer on dominant machinery, he would have backed himself to compete still.
Martin will have ‘hated’ watching Ai Ogura in Thailand as the rookie nearly managed a podium on a similar bike to what he would have been on.
It was extra motivation for him to continue working hard and ensure that he is ready for a return at the end of March.
Mowmag reports that the Spaniard could be in Argentina between March 14-16 to support Aprilia in the garage as he prepares for his comeback.

Will Jorge Martin be able to compete for victories when he makes his MotoGP comeback?
Paolo Campinoti suggests Martin will return in Qatar, but the longer he waits, the better he is likely to perform by allowing himself to heal.
Ogura spent much of the Thailand race on the back of the factory Ducati of Francesco Bagnaia on a satellite Aprilia machine.
A near fully fit Martin would surely be level or ahead of that and in contention for a podium. He may have been on the front row with his electric qualifying pace anyway.
At some point this season, Martin will win a race for his new team. He must ensure that he spends time properly recovering and doesn’t introduce any complications to the fold.
