Marc Marquez is the favourite to win the MotoGP championship in 2025 and secure his seventh crown with a new manufacturer.
After 10 years with Honda, the Spaniard made a brave move to Ducati in 2024, joining the satellite Gresini team alongside brother Alex Marquez.
The Marquez with six titles received a promotion to the factory Ducati team for 2025 alongside Francesco Bagnaia and has enjoyed a stellar start to the year.
It’s hard to judge whether there will be a MotoGP title race or not, but the evidence of the Grand Prix of Thailand suggests that it may not end up being so close.
Marquez gave a glowing assessment of Alex and has backed him to take his first premier-class victory this season.
Currently, he seems more comfortable, and quicker than Bagnaia, making him the second-fastest rider behind his brother.

Marc Marquez’s mother prefers Alex to win a MotoGP title to help prove a ‘lie’ wrong
Marquez called the Thailand podium ‘really special’ because it was just the second time in his career that he and his brother got to share one. It was also the first time with either of them winning and sharing it at the same time.
They occupy the top two spots in the riders’ championship and the next few races favour their riding styles. Marc runs particularly well in both Argentina and Austin.
Speaking to the SER Podcast, Roser Alenta, their mother, spoke about who she prefers to win the title this year.
“Alex, because how long has he been in MotoGP,” she said. “You know that they have always told him he runs because he is the brother of [Marc] and that is a lie.
“Alex is a hard worker, but born [after] so it costs him more to get to the top. The illusion would be for him to have at least one world motorcycle champion title, of course, for me.”

Roser Alenta says Marc Marquez would be ‘super happy’ to see Alex win a MotoGP title
Alenta is ‘scared’ Marquez is being declared champion already by some outlets, just one race into the new season.
There are 21 races to go first, and she’s very aware of how difficult it can be to maintain high levels without making mistakes or getting injured.
Alenta did point out that she believes Marc would agree with her sentiment regarding Alex. He would be delighted to see his brother claim a title.
“Yes, and Marc it seems to me that he already said it one day, I don’t know if you are [aware] there but he commented it but Marc would be super happy that his brother wins a MotoGP championship,” she said.
He doesn’t quite have enough pace to beat Marc currently, but he should be able to be right on his tail in 2025 and set himself up for his best ever campaign.
