Ducati started the season in explosive style by winning the Grand Prix of Thailand and having both factory bikes on the podium.
Marc Marquez delivered an assured performance, sitting behind brother Alex until the closing stages in a bid to preserve his tyres, before easing past him with four laps to go and sailing into the distance.
Francesco Bagnaia struggled in third and couldn’t match his new teammate’s pace. It could be a major cause for concern if the pattern of testing and the first race continues.

Marquez’s unearthly ability has been compared to Casey Stoner and may be unsettling for Bagnaia, as he can extract things from a bike that nobody else can.
He doesn’t remain still either. The Spaniard is always chasing gains. Peter Bom noticed Marquez’s changed seating position after changing teams, which may have brought an extra few milliseconds to his performance.

When the Gresini rider’s tyres began to falter, he sat behind and pounced with a handful of laps to go, sailing off into the distance to win by nearly two seconds.
Julia Marquez is privately feeling overwhelmed by her son’s battle at the top, but they kept it clean and managed to bring home a family one-two at the season-opener.

It may not please Bagnaia too much who has been the team’s leader and rock over the last few seasons, leading them to two titles.

He was fairly off the pace in pre-season testing and the worrying trend has continued into the start of the campaign.
