Gino Borsoi says Alpine ‘might’ agree to do one exciting thing in Pramac MotoGP partnership

Pramac have entered a partnership with Formula 1 manufacturer Alpine ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season. It’s a prestigious deal for the team after winning the world championship with Jorge Martin.

Pramac pulled the covers off their new bike at a launch event in Malaysia last weekend. They joined their new allies Yamaha on stage and are being heralded as a second factory team.

The Alpine logo appeared on the Pramac bike near the pedals. It remains to be seen whether the F1 team will reciprocate – they will reveal their livery at the sport’s season launch on 18 February.

Renault rebranded their F1 outfit to Alpine in 2021 in order to promote the sportscar division. Under that guise, they have won one race and taken six podiums.

But they will also claim the 2005 and 2006 world championships, won by Fernando Alonso. Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan, son of MotoGP legend Mick, form their current line-up.

Pramac are set to fall away from the front of the grid this year after splitting with Ducati. Yamaha expect to become more competitive, but race wins may be out of the question.

Pramac chief Gino Borsoi teases potential technical partnership with Alpine

In an interview with GPOne, Borsoi was asked whether the Alpine deal was solely a ‘commercial agreement’. He called it an ‘honour’ to be associated with an ‘important manufacturer’.

However, he also refused to rule out a ‘technical collaboration’ in the future. That could see Pramac benefit from the team’s F1 resources.

MotoGP could soon come under the ownership of F1’s commercial rights holders Liberty Media. Dorna are hopeful that the deal will clear the remaining regulatory hurdles.

“Definitely Alpine is a very important brand,” Borsoi said. “It will definitely give us lustre and it is an honour to have such an important manufacturer on board.

“They are also involved in Formula 1, they produce beautiful road cars. A technical collaboration? There might be.”

Franco Colapinto’s message to Pramac after Alpine deal

Alpine aren’t the only F1 brand involved in MotoGP. Red Bull are the title sponsors of KTM and Tech3, with both teams racing in their colours.

However, there are limits to their involvement. Red Bull won’t step in to save KTM amid the company’s financial crisis.

The Alpine-Pramac tie-up remains a marketing pursuit for now. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the riders and drivers appear together for promotional events.

Indeed, Alpine reserve driver Franco Colapinto joked he was ready to ride for Pramac if required. Colapinto’s popularity in South America could be advantageous for Borsoi and co.
