Marc Marquez enters 2025 in the best position to challenge for a MotoGP championship since he claimed the last of his six titles with Honda in 2019.
The Spaniard has had to be patient to get back onboard a race-winning bike and took advantage of the Gresini machine he was on last year to win three races.
Marquez finished 116 points shy of title-winner and fellow-countryman Jorge Martin with third place in the riders’ championship.
He now steps up to command a Ducati GP25 bike which is expected to be the class of the field early in the season again.
Marco Melandri heard Martin was told he’d get a Ducati seat before they changed their mind and opted against signing the reigning champion.
He was left to sign with Aprilia, who won’t be much of an issue for Ducati if they perform as expected. It could be a two-way fight for the title.
Fans excited to see ‘incredible’ Marc Marquez dressed in Ducati red
Ducati revealed their GP25 bike and livery at 11 am local time (10 am GMT) on Monday. Both Francesco Bagnaia and Marquez were in attendance too.
Ducati has brought completely new components to their 2025 bike as they chase further performance in a quest to defend their teams’ title and reclaim the riders’ championship.
Fans appear to be excited about Marquez’s arrival, taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their excitement.
“Incredible to see Marc Márquez in these colours on a different bike. His boldness paid off, and it’s amazing to see where he has ended up. Would we have ever imagined this?” questioned one fan.

“Marc looks good in RED,” wrote another, while another said: “What has Ducati done?”
“Red suits Marc,” according to another Marquez admirer, while another was almost left speechless by the reveal: “Wow just wow,”
And finally, one fan simply called the Ducati reveal ‘stunning’ after photos of Bagnaia and Marquez together in team colours were released for the first time.
Why Ducati are the MotoGP team to beat in 2025
Ducati believe they have a huge responsibility to deliver in 2025, with two multiple champions on their bike.
Bagnaia has won two of the last three titles and is almost guaranteed to be in contention for a third crown at the end of the season.
Ducati boss Luigi Dall’lgna saw something amazing in Marquez’s data before signing him to partner their Italian champion.

The increased competition should help him to raise his levels, but it could also force him into more mistakes on track.
Bagnaia already spent his honeymoon haunted by 2024 mistakes and he won’t want to spend another off-season regretting the same thing. Stamping his authority down over Marquez early will be what he aims to do.
