The 2024 Argentina Grand Prix was cancelled as a result of difficult economic circumstances in South America at the time.
Hopes of the race returning have been bleak over the winter with the outlook failing to improve much of late.
The last Grand Prix that happened there took place in April 2023 and was won by Ducati’s Marco Bezzecchi after starting from second on the grid.
2023 champion Francesco Bagnaia finished the wet race 16th after falling off his bike in slippery conditions while in second place.
The Italian was upset after the incident and couldn’t understand why he had crashed out before limping home nearly 50 seconds shy of Bazzecchi.

Michelin have ‘shipped tyres already’ to Argentina ahead of MotoGP race
The Argentina Grand Prix is scheduled to be the second race of the season in mid-March, following the season-opener in Thailand.
March is one of the warmest months of the year in Argentina, so a repeat of a wet race is unlikely but never off the cards.
Temperatures peak at 27 degrees Celsius on average, which is something that could make managing tyres difficult.
Simon Patterson mentioned on The Race’s MotoGP podcast that Michelin may have already shipped tyres to the circuit, suggesting that the race will go ahead.
“Right now, he’s got to be looking at his best chance of a strong result early in the season coming in Argentina,” he said.
“As a low grip track where Aprilia goes well which is sounding more and more like it’s going to happen. I heard a little bird told me this weekend that Michelin have shipped tyres already, which is a more promising position than we were in 12 months ago.”
Who is favourite to win the MotoGP title in 2025?
It will be too early to pick a winner for the title as soon as the Argentine instalment of the season finishes in March.
Reigning champion Jorge Martin is impressed by Aprilia’s front-end feedback compared to Ducati after making the move from Pramac. He may have a slight chance of defending his title yet.
Peter Bom expects Marc Marquez’s talent to make him a Ducati contender after beating Martin to a seat alongside Bagnaia at the factory outfit.
Their GP25 bike is expected to be an improvement on last year’s dominant machine, spelling trouble for their rivals.
It means that Ducati are most likely to be considered the favourite for the title, but Martin’s move to Aprilia could shake things up as the season progresses.
