Gresini MotoGP staff were amazed at one thing Marc Marquez did behind the scenes after Honda move

Marc Marquez will be eyeing his seventh MotoGP title with the factory Ducati team in 2025.

The Spaniard moves over from the satellite Ducati team Gresini Racing to partner Francesco Bagnaia. He replaced Enea Bastianini who has signed with KTM Tech3.

Marquez moved to Ducati in 2024 from Honda, having spent his entire MotoGP up to that point with the Japanese manufacturer.

The 31-year-old endured a difficult end to his time with Honda. Before finishing third in 2024, he had not finished in the top three of the standings since 2019 – the year he won his sixth title.

Marquez does not regret the timing of his Honda exit, but he certainly put the last few seasons with the team behind him in 2024. The Spaniard now has the perfect chance to grab his seventh championship this season.

Marc Marquez stunned Gresini by how he learned everything in ’30 seconds’

Marquez seemed to get accustomed to the Ducati bike straight away after moving from Honda. He won three races and grabbed nine podiums with Gresini in 2024, earning a move to the factory team for 2025.

Journalist Marco Massetti says Gresini were amazed by how the six-time champion took almost no time at all to get into the team’s head and be ready to give everything ‘100%’ effort.

“Marquez, you are right and it must be said learning as we know, Marquez takes a while to learn sometimes, even two minutes!” he said via the #ZamTube YouTube channel.

“And he has learned everything there is to know when he is having a bad day. Otherwise, he already knows everything in 30 seconds.

“Last year I often spoke with the people from the Gresini team and they all told me the same thing. That is, how long did it take for Marquez to seduce you, to get into your head? Nothing.

“He entered and was already inside them, in their head, because you know that Marquez is someone who, when he talks to you, he is totally with you. Anything can happen as long as he’s 100% with you and so he does everything 100%.”

How will Marc Marquez fare against Francesco Bagnaia in 2025?

Ducati have arguably the strongest rider pairing in 2025 as Marquez partners two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian missed out on the 2024 title to Jorge Martin by just 10 points.

Martin had been meant to take the second Ducati seat next to Bagnaia. But Marquez’s ‘beastly’ pull as a six-time champion ultimately saw the fellow Spaniard get the seat.

The 31-year-old will present tough competition for Bagnaia in 2025. Peter Bom says Marquez has ‘extreme talent’ will earn him more respect from Ducati over his teammate.

But Marquez has been ‘suffering’ with Ducati’s bike on new tyres as he has struggled with too much grip during testing. This could prove damaging in his bid to win the title this season.
