Fabio Quartararo has been completely despondent at Yamaha over their constant struggles with the YZR-M1, and his antics during his media debriefs suggest he cannot wait to join Honda.
The Frenchman’s anger towards the Iwata outfit has been well-documented, with the team unable to give him a competitive bike. Quartararo admitted he is ‘lost’ on the bike, and is growing tired with the lack of progress.
The 2021 MotoGP champion has constantly criticised Yamaha to the media after races, slamming their slow development and the lack of power in the bike.

Quartararo is joining Honda in 2027, signing the deal before the start of the 2026 season and before riding with the V4 engine. His faith in the manufacturer was completely gone and he needed to move on.
His recent tactics in the media pen suggest that he is just looking to get to Honda. Journalist David Emmett says Quartararo has been turning up to his debriefs 15 minutes early in the hope that no one turns up.

He said on the Paddock Pass Podcast: “You know how good he is, and occasionally he will show you flashes of it. Things will come together where he can actually be competitive to a certain extent – Sachsenring again on Friday.
“But yeah, you know he is so much better than the bike. The bike is just not there, and it’s been difficult to go to his debrief sometimes.
“He keeps on doing his media debriefs about 15 minutes before the planned time, immediately after a session, in the hope that nobody actually turns up.

“So yeah, it’s been really, really difficult to watch. You can see him literally sort of just counting off the days.”
Quartararo admits he has been too vocal about Yamaha’s struggles and his frustrations. But while he accepts responsibility, his situation is showing no signs of improving in 2026 – his move to Honda cannot come sooner.
