MotoGP fans unanimously believe that BMW are making a mistake after learning that the World Superbike team would rather sign Manuel Gonzalez instead of Brad Binder.
Binder appears to be on the way out of the MotoGP paddock at the end of 2026, as KTM are not currently interested in offering the South African a new contract that would also see him step down to Tech3 in 2027. There also seems to be no seats available elsewhere in MotoGP.
KTM have already signed Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio to form their factory line-up next season, with Binder’s contract expiring and Pedro Acosta signing for Ducati ahead of his deal lapsing. Tech3 are yet to confirm any riders for 2027, but Binder is not in their plans.
So, with no seats available in MotoGP, the South African is believed to be looking at moving to the World Superbike Championship next season. And it is said that BMW consider Binder an option for 2027, as neither Miguel Oliveira nor Danilo Petrucci are certain to be retained.

Moto2 championship leader Gonzalez is in a slightly similar situation, as well, as no MotoGP teams are rushing to sign the Spaniard. So, like Binder, Gonzalez has set his sights on going to the World Superbike Championship in 2027, and BMW now consider him their top target.

That is according to SPEEDWEEK, which reports that BMW want to sign Gonzalez to replace Petrucci above all, as they want Oliveira to stay. But BMW would move on to Binder or Jack Miller if Gonzalez rejects them, as Ducati are also keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old.
A lot of MotoGP fans believe BMW are making a mistake by prioritising a move for Gonzalez instead of Binder, however. Loads of MotoGP fans have been reacting on our Facebook page with their belief that Binder should be BMW’s top target, if he wants to join the WSBK team.
One fan stated: “How is this even a debate or a choice (maybe money is a stumbling block)? Brad all day! He is a proven talent.” Another fan said, “Binder for sure!,” and one noted: “No question – Binder all the way!” One fan also claimed: “Binder all the way! Go Brad Binder!”
MotoGP fans are adamant that BMW’s choice should be “Binder, for sure” over Gonzalez if they are both open to representing the German brand in World Superbikes next year. One fan also stated, “Binder every time,” and one claimed, “Binder please! I pray it will happen.”
