Jack Miller came home 16th in Sunday’s Czech Grand Prix, ending a four-race run of consecutive points finishes.
Miller was the lowest-ranking full-time rider in the main race, only beating LCR stand-in Cal Crutchlow. In his defence, this was a particularly poor weekend for Yamaha, with all four riders qualifying 15th or lower.
With the M1 clearly the slowest bike on the grid, Miller’s hopes of scoring points often hinge on beating his Yamaha stablemates. His battle with Toprak Razgatlioglu at Pramac has been particularly close.

After nine races, the two riders are tied on 11 points apiece, though Miller is ahead by virtue of his eighth place in Hungary, Pramac’s best result of the year.
Miller is shading the qualifying head-to-head 5-4, while the pair are tied 7-7 in the races where both have been classified (including Sprints).
While Miller outpaced Razgatlioglu on Saturday morning, he lost out to the three-time World Superbikes champion in both races.

He finished around 2.5 seconds behind in the Sprint, while the gap increased to over seven seconds on Sunday. Writing on social media afterwards, Miller admitted that Razgatlioglu was clearly superior through the Brno chicanes.
“P16 today,” he said. “Gave it everything I had and honestly felt like that was about the max we had in our pocket.
“Physically felt good and was able to push from lights to flag. Toprak was bloody impressive in those chicanes too. Plenty to take away and plenty to keep working on.”
As the halfway point of the season approaches, the noises around Miller’s MotoGP future are increasingly bleak. The expectation right now is that Izan Guevara will join Pramac next year, and ‘Thriller’ isn’t thought to be in serious talks with any other teams.
