Pedro Acosta is ‘getting tired’ of KTM and ‘can’t wait’ to join Ducati, according to Carlo Pernat.

Acosta, 22, has been riding for KTM since moving up to MotoGP in 2024 and has since taken part in 49 races, securing 13 podium finishes and two pole positions.

Looking ahead to 2027, Acosta is set to join Ducati, where he will ride alongside seven-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez.

On Tuesday, it was officially confirmed that Marquez had signed a new contract with Ducati, keeping him at the team through the 2028 season.

Acosta, despite being one of the sport’s best riders, will have his work cut out when he goes up against Marquez

During last weekend’s Czech Grand Prix, Acosta failed to finish the race due to a technical problem on his KTM RC16; he was running P5 at the time of the failure.

Reacting to what happened to Acosta in Brno, Pernat claimed that the Spaniard is now ‘getting tired’ of KTM and ‘can’t wait’ to link up with Marquez at Ducati.

The Italian stated that Acosta was let down by the KTM’s engine and there is ‘nothing’ to be done.

Speaking to GPOne, Pernat said: “But for the KTMs, unfortunately, the engines cut out. There’s nothing to be done.

“Pedro Acosta is getting tired. He’s right—he can’t take it anymore. Once again, the engine let him down. He can’t wait for next year to ride a Ducati alongside Marc Marquez.”

Pedro Acosta now leads the way for most podiums without a win. What does this record say about him? 🍾

Pedro Acosta ‘not even disappointed’ after retiring from Czech Grand Prix

Speaking on Sunday, after his heartbreak at the Czech Grand Prix, Acosta himself admitted that he wasn’t even ‘disappointed’.

The 22-year-old went on to demand ‘answers’ from KTM after being hit with several reliability issues.

Prior to the retirement in Brno, Acosta ran into problems at the Catalan Grand Prix, which led to Alex Marquez’s huge crash.

Acosta has now urged KTM to ‘send everything to the factory’ in order to fully work out the cause of the issues.

As reported by Motorsport, Acosta said: “It was exactly the same problem that I had on Friday. It just switched off.

“I [have reached the point where] I’m not even disappointed. I didn’t do anything wrong. What is not in my hands, I cannot change. It is what it is.

“Now it’s time for KTM to give some answers and try to analyse why we are having these reliability problems. Because I have had many already.

“I think now KTM should send everything to the factory, try to understand what is going on and give some answers because it’s already many times that [technical problems have] happened.”
