MotoGP fans have blasted Marco Bezzecchi for his crash in the Czech Grand Prix Sprint race, and have drawn a comparison between Francesco Bagnaia and his heartbreaking loss in the 2024 title race to Jorge Martin.
Marco Bezzecchi was running in P5 in the latter stages of the Sprint race in Brno – not an optimal position for his title efforts, but the main thing was that he was ahead of Aprilia teammate, and main championship rival, Jorge Martin.
What does Marco Bezzecchi have to change after crashing out of the Czech Grand Prix Sprint?
The Aprilia rider's incident at Brno was his fourth crash from nine Sprints in 2026
However, just two laps from the end of the race, disaster struck, and cameras cut to Bezzecchi on his knees in the gravel at turn three. The Aprilia ace lost the front on his own accord, which guaranteed a scoreless result for him on Saturday afternoon.
Despite Francesco Bagnaia going on to win the 10-lap shorter format race, one of the toughest pills he has had to swallow in MotoGP was brought up following Bezzecchi’s crash.

MotoGP fans issue Francesco Bagnaia 2.0 claim after Marco Bezzecchi’s Brno Sprint crash
Following Bezzecchi’s off with just two laps to go in the Czech Grand Prix Sprint, fans quickly took to social media to share their immediate reactions.
Francesco Bagnaia wins the Brno Sprint 🏆 But who was your rider of the race, and why?
The overwhelming sentiment was one that referred to Bagnaia’s loss of the 2024 MotoGP title to Jorge Martin. The Italian lost out by just 10 points in the end despite winning 11 Grands Prix to Martin’s three.
The Spaniard’s clinching of the championship is widely regarded to have come down to his prowess in the Sprint races, a format in which Bagnaia struggled to score consistent results.
Both riders are part of Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Riders Academy, leading one fan to question why Bezzecchi hasn’t taken Bagnaia’s past experience on board. They wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Bezz hasn’t learned anything from Pecco in 2024. What a shame.”
Another joked, “Bezz is doing his best Pecco 2024 impression,” while someone else posted to the platform, “Pecco failed to win the 2024 title because of mistakes like that; Bezzecchi really shouldn’t make the same mistake.”
A separate fan drew attention to the most pivotal mistake by Bagnaia in the 2024 title fight. At the penultimate round of the season in Malaysia, #63 crashed out from pole position in the Sprint, while Martin went on to win.
Bagnaia’s perfect form for the remainder of the weekend and the season finale in Valencia proved to be not enough to make up for his error.
Despite Bezzecchi’s crash being a lot earlier in the season, they still see it as just as damaging, writing, “This is definitely worse than Bagnaia’s sprint DNF in 2024.”
Another commented, “He’s doing everything he can to repeat Bagnaia’s mistake in 2024 and lose the championship because of the Sprint races,” while a final fan issued an ‘unacceptable’ verdict on the crash.
“This one is kinda unacceptable, P5 and cruising. He’s doing a Bagnaia 2024,” they posted.
