Fabio Quartararo has been blasted for his ‘unprofessional’ behaviour at the Italian Grand Prix after he abandoned his media duties.
The Italian Grand Prix was a miserable weekend for the Frenchman, finishing 18th on Sunday. He was completely despondent after the race, stating that his motivation was gone.
It has been well documented that the 2021 champion is checked out of Yamaha and its project. After all, Quartararo signed with Honda for 2027 before riding the 2026 bike, but that has not stopped him from giving tense media interviews about the Iwata outfit.

Quartararo has constantly criticised Yamaha for not giving him the tools to be competitive. The V4 engine is still in its early stages of development, but their star rider is not happy at all with the bike’s progress.
Paolo Pavesio says Quartararo’s complaints are ‘useless’ and has reminded him that he represents a manufacturer. But at Mugello, his antics with the media reached a new low.
Quartararo only spoke to the TV cameras after the race – he is contractually obliged to do so. When he came to his debrief with the press, no one was in attendance, prompting him to walk out after just 10 minutes.

Journalists Adam Wheeler and David Emmett discussed the ordeal on the Paddock Pass Podcast, blasting the Frenchman for his behaviour.
Wheeler said: “First of all, I mean, we set a new MotoGP all-time top speed record here on Saturday. And I think Fabio Quartararo, Dave, has set the new record for media debrief attendance.
“He was there to speak 10 minutes after the race today. He must still have been in his leathers and thought, I want to get this f—— s— out the way.”
Emmett was then heavily critical of the Yamaha rider: “He was there, the media wasn’t, and he left before the media actually turned up. Just as he wanted.
Did Yamaha make a mistake re-signing Fabio Quartararo in 2024?
“So I mean, I think there are going to be… there’s going to have to be a few conversations in Yamaha because that was unprofessional.
“I mean, I feel very sorry for Fabio Quartararo because it’s a horrible situation to be in. But then, he can cry into his 100 Euro notes.”
Neil Hodgson has told Yamaha to stop Quartararo from doing interviews due to his constant negativity. After this incident at Mugello, conversations certainly need to be had.
