MotoGP fans have had their say on who they think is the most exciting rider on the grid, with Marc Marquez and Fabio Quartararo being snubbed in favour of one rider who is yet to win a Grand Prix.

Marc Marquez’s aggressive elbows-to-the-floor riding style revolutionised MotoGP upon his arrival in the premier class in 2013, and he has since left fans in awe on his way to seven world titles in the category.

Fabio Quartararo also took the premier class by storm upon his promotion to MotoGP in 2019. The Frenchman wasted no time in stamping his authority on the grid, becoming the youngest-ever pole-sitter after he set the timing sheets alight at his fourth race weekend.

However, when it comes to the most exciting rider of MotoGP’s current crop of competitors, fans have overwhelmingly agreed on another candidate: Pedro Acosta.

MotoGP fans choose Pedro Acosta as the ‘most exciting’ rider on the 2026 grid

On the social media platform Reddit, MotoGP fans were locked into a debate over who they think is the most exciting rider to watch on a race weekend. Acosta’s name was brought up in the majority of responses.

One fan is a huge admirer of the 21-year-old’s talents, highlighting how he would be in championship contention if it wasn’t for the poor performance of his KTM prototype.

They commented, “Acosta is genuinely the most exciting rider on the grid right now, and if KTM had their act together, he’d already be leading the championship.”

Another user shared a similar sentiment, writing, “He’s definitely one of the most impressive riders, and it’s pretty evident he would be somewhere way up if not for the KTM. Just watching him ride is so fun.”

A separate fan theorised, “If Acosta were on a Ducati or Aprilia, he’d walk this year’s championship.”

Of course, there were some counterarguments regarding the fact that Acosta has yet to make the trip to the top step of the podium in the premier class.

However, in terms of pure skill, one fan is adamant that the Murcian native is the truth, commenting, “He’s the real deal in terms of rider skill, not statistics.”

Another believes that once the high-flying Marquez calls it a day on his time in MotoGP, the weight of the premier class will remain on Acosta’s shoulders. They said, “He will bring the entertainment when Marc is gone.”

It’s not only his talent that has caught the eye of fans, either. A final fan highlighted, “What’s more exciting about Pedro, other than his clear talent, is his mentality. He seems so unfazed by adversity, and he’s there for a scrap.”

Pedro Acosta suffered heartbreak at the Catalan GP after leading the majority of the race

The only blot in the Spaniard’s impressive start to his career in MotoGP is the fact that he still doesn’t have a Grand Prix victory to his name in the category. Of course, to be one of the best riders on the grid, you need to let the results do the talking.

He has come mightily close on a number of occasions, with the most recent Catalan Grand Prix being a prime example of that. Acosta led the majority of a race that was marred by brutal crashes and lengthy red flag periods.

It was a fine performance, which unfortunately culminated in him crashing out of the Grand Prix due to an ambitious move from Ai Ogura at the final corner of the circuit.

The Spaniard had fallen down to P4 on the very last lap of the race, after KTM’s sub-optimal tyre wear was exposed in the latter stages of Sunday’s Grand Prix. It was a very tough pill to swallow for the 21-year-old, as his quest for a maiden victory continues to unfold.
