Pedro Acosta is one of the brightest young stars that MotoGP has seen in many years, and the Spaniard has already achieved some marvellous moments in his career so far.

The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup first offered Acosta a platform on the world stage in 2019, and him then winning the title in 2020 put him on the fast track to, possibly, greatness. KTM picked Acosta up for his rookie Moto3 season in 2021 and ultimately set his path to MotoGP.

Acosta produced an incredible rookie Moto3 campaign to lift the title with six wins from 18 races. The Spaniard’s name was then etched onto the Moto2 title with KTM Ajo in 2023, as well, before KTM sent the Mazarron native to Tech3 for his rookie MotoGP season in 2024.

It took Acosta just one year with Tech3 to convince KTM to drop Jack Miller to promote him into their factory line-up, too. And it is now widely expected that Ducati will sign Acosta for the 2027 season, after choosing him to replace the two-time champion, Francesco Bagnaia.

Ducati even made their swoop to sign Acosta for 2027 before he had won a Sprint Race, let alone a Grand Prix, in the premier class. The future looks very bright for Acosta in MotoGP, nonetheless, so MotoGP News has looked into the best moments of the Spaniard’s career.

KTM saw Pedro Acosta start his third season in MotoGP on the right footing by recording his first Sprint Race win at the 2026 Thailand Grand Prix. But Acosta “did not feel like a winner” after the 2026 Buriram Sprint, as he only inherited the lead at the last corner of the last lap.

Ducati ace Marc Marquez had overtaken Acosta into the final corner on the penultimate lap of the 2026 Buriram Sprint. But race control quickly ruled that Marquez’s late dive on Acosta was too aggressive, so ordered the veteran Spaniard to drop one position to his compatriot.

Acosta had qualified P7 for the 2024 Portuguese GP, but he made impressive progress after slipping to P8 to overtake Brad Binder, Jack Miller, Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia. A late mechanical failure and a highside for Maverick Vinales also put Acosta onto the podium.

Martin and Marquez were full of praise for Acosta after he secured his first MotoGP podium with P3 in the 2024 Portuguese GP. Speaking after the race, Martin said via TNT Sports: “He will be one of the toughest guys to beat in the future. But it’s not a surprise, because we all know he has the talent, and he is here today with us.”

Marquez also said: “You can see with Pedro that he’s riding with that instinct, with no fear. He’s just pushing the bike and it doesn’t matter what. And today he did an incredible race, and he was riding in a very good way. So, yeah, impressive. But I already said before Qatar, he will be one of the names in the future, but also in the present.”

Where did Pedro Acosta produce the best MotoGP races of his career?

Despite only making his MotoGP debut in 2024, Pedro Acosta has already produced some superb performances in the premier class. To date in his fledgling career, Acosta can deem his first Grand Prix podium in Portugal in 2024, his fight for the lead in America in 2024 and his excellent defensive display in Indonesia in 2025 as three of his best race performances.

Acosta fought valiantly to secure P2 in the 2024 Americas Grand Prix at COTA against Marc Marquez, before he crashed out on Lap 10/20, and Maverick Vinales. He ultimately had to settle for second place in only his third outing in Austin, Texas to Vinales by 1.728 seconds.

The 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika was also Acosta at his very best, as he used a phenomenal defensive performance to baulk much faster riders en route to finishing in P2. Acosta nursed his tyres knowing that he did not have the pace to win to use the grip where he needed it most, resulting in Alex Marquez of Gresini failing to get past in the fight for P2.
