Aprilia’s new title sponsor deal has reportedly put Jorge Martin in a ‘very delicate’ position.

Martin, 28, endured a tough Catalan Grand Prix weekend after multiple crashes leading into Sunday’s main race.

During the Grand Prix, Martin failed to finish after he was taken out by Raul Fernandez, who rides for the Aprilia satellite team, Trackhouse.

Meanwhile, Martin’s factory Aprilia teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, finished fourth, extending his lead at the top of the standings to 15 points.

Should Yamaha be worried about Jorge Martin’s attitude after he shoved his Aprilia team members?

Aprilia’s new title sponsor has put Jorge Martin in a ‘very delicate’ position

Away from the track, things could now become difficult for Martin, due to Aprilia’s apparent title sponsor deal with Monster Energy.

Last month, it was reported that Monster were set to end their partnership with Yamaha, which has been in place since 2019.

It has now been claimed by Motorsport that Monster will become Aprilia’s title sponsor from next week’s Italian Grand Prix.

The report stated that the current agreement runs until the end of the season, with a view to extending their partnership beyond 2026.

However, the latest development has reportedly left Martin in a ‘very delicate’ position, due to his ties with Red Bull, a direct competitor to Monster.

According to Motorsport, Martin is ‘exploring all the options open to him’, which includes leaving Red Bull and becoming a Monster rider, something that has been described as not feasible.

Another potential solution that has been spoken about is to ‘pause’ his agreement with Red Bull, which would come with ‘economic damage’.

Will Jorge Martin regret pushing too hard to recover in the Catalan Sprint come the end of the title fight? 😬

What has Jorge Martin said about his future?

Looking ahead, it has been well documented that Martin is believed to be leaving Aprilia for Yamaha next year, replacing the Honda-bound Fabio Quartararo.

Speaking about his future earlier in the year, Martin said, as per Crash: “It’s funny how early all the rumours are coming out. As a fan, I always remember trying to analyse which rider was going to move to another bike.

“But what I can say, is that if I am at this test it’s because I really want to focus on Aprilia. I really want to focus on the ’26 season and help the project to develop a bit better.

“For sure, I can say that part of my team is working on my future. We will see what happens in the future.”
