Marco Bezzecchi’s three race wins in 2026 thus far have been commanding performances. But his defeats have proved that he may lose the title if he cannot battle with his rivals.
The Aprilia rider continued his incredible form from the end of 2025 into the start of 2026, winning the opening three races by leading every lap. Marc Marquez was worried by Bezzecchi and how he controlled the field.
In fact, Marquez even remarked that Bezzecchi was ‘unstoppable’, but the last two events have disproved that, with the Italian losing to Alex Marquez at Jerez and his Aprilia teammate, Jorge Martin, at Le Mans.
Marco Bezzecchi’s championship lead is down to just ONE point! Which Aprilia rider will score more points?
Bezzecchi had led from the start of the French Grand Prix after Francesco Bagnaia’s poor getaway. However, Martin was faster on track and slowly bridged the gap before passing him with an audacious lunge into turn two in the closing stages.
He could not find a way back past the Spaniard and had to settle for second, with Martin now cutting his championship lead down to one point. It may have exposed a problem for Bezzecchi that could cost him his first MotoGP title.

Neil Hodgson says Marco Bezzecchi’s wins have been ‘boring’ – he could lose the title if he can’t defend
When Bezzecchi gets clear of the pack, he has proved to be unstoppable. His three wins left Neil Hodgson thinking that they were ‘boring’.
He said on TNT Sports 2 after the French GP: “It was a much better race than we were expecting. I was a bit nervous when Bez got the lead. Because we’ve seen, some of his wins, I’m not ant-Bez as you know, I’m a huge fan as well. But his race wins have been a bit boring.
“He’s checked out and controlled it and I thought, ‘Here we go again.’ Actually I didn’t miss him [Marquez] today, because it was a cracking race.”
Who was your rider of the race at the French Grand Prix?
Comment below!
He may be a force at the front when he builds a gap, but when a rival catches up with Bezzecchi, the Italian has little to no answer.
Le Mans was the perfect example, as he could not deal with the relentless pressure from Martin or find a way back through after losing the lead. At the moment, Bezzecchi can only win ‘boring’, and in combat, he is second best.
Bezzecchi is not thinking about the title, issuing his response to Jorge Lorenzo saying that it is his title to lose. This weekend proved that it certainly is not, especially when he has no answer to his rivals in battle.
Martin is back and riding at his best, showing that he is a real title threat. If Bezzecchi cannot figure out how to fight him and prove his worth in combat, then commanding the field on occasion may not be enough in 2026.
